It's just that use of the word relates the fact that no one within your circle is afflicted.

If someone was, you might behave differently.

It like giving the world a BYE ROUND because you finally understand what it entails.

or "doc that chinc a weeks pay for sleeping on the job"

or "is it twu what zey say about your type... oh it's twu it's twu!"

or "don johnson is right about abe johnson being right about nelly johson..."

I absolutely love that movie... def a fav... but you'd never get away with a movie like that today... despite the fact that mel even makes fun of his own people in the movie... and distributes the comedy evenly on the gays, blacks, whites, chinese, irish, germans, jewish, latin, cross-eyed, white trash, inbred hillbilies etc.

I personally like the show as I do the Simpsons. They both cover a wide range of topics and are fun to watch. I do wonder how they get away with some comments since they often include real peoples names but yah know its just fun.

It's ok to laugh. Sometimes I think the media wish to stop that.

Depends what you mean when you say "like that".

Some of the specific jokes wouldn't read as well today, but the intent of the slams would.

I remember in one of his movies (Blazing Saddles) there was a line which was just plain abusive to anyone with African heritage ("Nobody move or the n***** gets it!). I remember how hard everyone laughed at it. But the laughter was a little nervous coming from some of the white people in the room. It was clear the joke was aimed at the bigots, not the ethnic group. The whole gag pretty much rubbed your nose in Mel Brooks opinion that bigots are stupid.

I think there are others who use the same technique today. The specific jokes are different and they give it their own, special style. But the intent is fundamentally the same. Have you seen an Eddie Murphy movie lately? The man is at his funniest when he's riffing on stereotypes.

Haven't seen it and don't plan to. I don't watch TV at all, it insults my intelligence. Especially the incredibly stupid commercials. Seinfeld...STUPID...Two and a Half Men...STUPID....OK those are the only two I've been unfortunate enough to have to suffer through recently, I wanted to gag.

The only time I ever see TV is when I visit friends, I'm always appalled at the incredible stupidity of both the programming and the commercials. Do they actually expect me to buy their crap - I mean product - because of a commercial that is so incredibly stupid it makes me want to PUKE???

I've refused to buy some products in the past because of stupid commercials. Charmin, for example. For years I refused to even consider buying it because of the idiotic TV commercials. I refuse to buy most over the counter "medications", because of the commercials and the fact that they are nothing but chemicals never intended to be ingested by humans, and most are useless in the first place.

Football players advertising beer...and here I was thinking they were supposed to be role models...They can't advertise something useful like guitar strings??? Amps??? No, they have to make incredibly stupid commercials for beer...

Sit coms are no different, incredibly stupid. An insult to your intelligence. The crud I see on TV when I visit friends is sickening. TV is the worst thing to happen to this world since whatever killed off the dinosaurs.
