I'll chime in for a moment here
3 yrs ago I weighed 207lbs
Today I maintain 162 lbs
The main thing I did was drink water, cut out all cokes and soft drinks
I counted calories for a while and got the in the habit of weighing in the morning and again at night. If I see my weight going up I just cut back what I eat. I do eat a balanced diet, veggies, fruits, mainly try to eat some of all the food groups.
Exercise I use weights sparingly, but i still use them. The main thing I do is try to walk at least 30 minutes a day.
When you eat you dont have to clean your plate leave something on there.
You have to burn off more calories than you put in. I got as low as 150 for a while but I had no energy. 160 to 165 seems to be my ideal range.
Im 5 ft 11 in if that matters.
I think you just have to make a lifestyle adjustment to get in shape and then just keep at it.
When I raced motorcycles I stayed in the 185 lb range. I ran at that time 3-4 times a week, but my knees are so beat up that I had to stop running.
Good Luck
