My latest song. I wrote and performed all parts. I was short one line. I struggled with it for a couple of days. Then I did something new. I asked my cousin who is a book worm and aspiring writer to lend a hand. The phrase I couldn't get was the first lyric of the chorus. I had the second line ... "And no two souls bleed the same" She came through!!! Thanks Kim!! :D

It's the first song in my profile here.

Bleed the same.

I can’t say what you want me to say
And you won’t give what I need
I made a mistake when I walked in the room, expecting you to change

You know we’ve both been wounded
And no two souls bleed the same

I can’t change you in any way
And you can’t change for me
I made a mistake when I walked out the room, expecting you to stay

You know we’ve both been wounded
And no two souls bleed the same

I can’t do what you want me to do
But I will try to change
I’m working towards a brighter day
I’m hoping you’ll do the same

You know we’ve both been wounded
And no two souls heal the same

Awesome words!!

I wish I could do that, but I can't, so I play guitar.

Paul, your vocals are always killer man.. Not exactly my style (sounds a little Country-ish), but very well done. Coolest thing, I think, is that listening to your songs on your list reminds me a lot of Ween (I think I've mentioned that before). Each song is a totally different direction. I'm always amazed by your versatility.

Thanks Sean! You know you sent me that track to work on and it would not open. try again! Send it as a wave.

Shredd, my man! The ween thing is such a compliment. Thanks bro! Last night I was walking through the grocery store my ipod touch was under my knit hat/tobaggon whatever you call it. A song I didn't want to hear came on shuffle. I have a "shake to shuffle" feature on my touch. I shook my head, and "burn" came on 8) Dig that mess. 8) I was like "shredd on my head... dig it" 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Hahaha.. It's been a while since I've even heard Burn again. Dude just wait. In 2-weeks we start recording 12-songs. 2 of my originals will be on it. I can't wait for you guys to hear them.

Of all things, I have written 2 of the most roots reggae songs in our set. It shocks people when we do them live. #1 thing I hear after a show.. "For a Cali-boy you have such a rootsy style. You have that Bob Marley thing." Imagine hearing that compliment after a show.. I never know what to say to it. I don't think people are referring to me sounding like Bob, but that my writing style is similar.

I got put to the test last Saturday. We played a Bob Marley birthday bash. Half the crowd was Jamaican. I was seriously a nervous wreck!! One of my new songs STARTED THE WHOLE NIGHT OFF!! But I just belted it out.. The crowd just kind of stood there staring at me. I didn't know what to think. I was like, "oh man.. this isn't good". I'm singing about Rastafari and Babylon, basically a song about their faith..

I just had to keep my cool and hit the emotion hard. Vocally and in the guitar lead. It seemed like a freaking eternity.. Then when the song was done, this immediate ROAR came out from the crowd. It was freakin awesome man!! Probably the biggest sigh of relief I've ever expelled.. Hahaha.

Sometime next month I'll be able to post that song on here. I'm really excited for everyone to hear it.

Anyway.. Not trying to hijack your thread. I just thought I'd share that experience with you.

You'd be surprised how many people will get down and kiss your ? if you can do the DEAD stuff.

I feel the way you do, though. The genre is ok, but the actual covering of dead music is a little too much for me.

That sounded good though, Paul. (not a hack by any means)

Man I loathe the dead. They are on my list with def lepard and nickelback. I know lots of people love it and would think I was cool for covering it but I wouldn't be caught "dead" covering that.

But thanks for saying it sounded good.

I undrstand why he said you sound deadish. And I agree with him.
I don't like the dead either, but your similarities on that song reflect the "good" aspects of being dead. 8)
