It seems since the New year kicked off we've been hammering each other.

Some things we discuss are pretty controversial yet here are the constants:

Athiests, Christians, Most points in between: Would like to live in peaceful world and are often nice to each other, often enjoying the experience.

Marxists, Conservatives, Liberals, Libertarians: Would like to live in peaceful world and are often nice to each other, often enjoying the experience.

Our disagreements are significant but not worth saying unkind things to each other. If each of us were to go back and read our posts over the last five days it might be helpful. Because I've come to you most of you guys and you usually aren't like that. What's up?

I've always thought wars came from a sort of dynamic that starts at this level. It's unsettling.

Sadly, we are all musicians too. With few other people we can talk to about our music.

A trick I use that might help is this: when I see broken down cars (i drive a lot) i always say "God bless you." No big deal. However, if I'm pissed off two minutes later and want to say !@#$$@!@ you, it doesn't feel right after saying the first thing. There are probably secular variants of this.

Perhaps this was what FBob was on about with his 'Love' thread that sadly, went south.

God bless you all and lets do a reset back to who we really are, who we usually are.

It seems like this happens every time I finally come back to the threads.

It must be me

Reset huh, I know I've said some less than nice
things on here. This is just a little box that sets in
a upstairs sitting room, its mine, and when someone
calls me names I respond back in kind. I realize probably
not the right thing to do, but I'm guilty. This whole internet
chatting is new to me, it seems to be all rhetorical, 99% of
the people don't want a response to their post, they just
want to say it. Is this because they can't say it to people in
person that they live out their mouthy dream thru this site.
I've never experienced people that will call you names and
question your background like that which has been done on this
site.
I am like that Mike, there was aday when my favorite hobby
was going to the bar and starting in on the bikers, cowboys,
and hippies. My old lady would cuss me while I was getting
dressed, steel toe boots, boot knife, pocket knife, side knife,
rifle in the back window, pistol under the seat, the old lady
would say where you going, I respond to the bar. Strength
and Power should rule, it does in the animal kingdom, we
have let all the sissys and crybabys run our country now,
everythings against the law. Therefore we don't stand a
chance against the muslims, they are dealing from strength
and power. Yes Mike let's reset back to this politically correct
crybaby world, and let's just give this country to the muslim,
that way nobody gets hurt in the short term. I can't reset Mike,
I will stand up to anyone who threatens my family, and it
wasn't that long ago, you just had to call me a name and
I'd knock your ass off, and that prior reputation serves me
well today. Not only can I not be beat, I won't be beat.
Here in computerland we just run our mouthes cause its
the only place we can do it at. I treat people the way they
treat me, and I'm quick to anger, in person this isn't a
problem, but computerlands a whole new world.
You know I use damn preceeded by God, much more than
I do Bless You, it's me. I'm 52 and not taking any sh*t off
of anybody, I ain't scared of nothing, or nobody, that's the
way my Dad raised me, he called it being a man.
So you might as well hit the ignore button on me, cause if you
call me names I will respond back, in a humorous way I think.

Peace brother, but I am not going to bow down to anybody,
or any web site, or any police or gov't, I am what I am.
Judge me if you want

Mike I hadnt really noticed anyone getting to far off base with thier character on here.

Just people voicing thier opinions, some more strongely than others.

Theres nothing wrong with a good discource on the state of things to me, as long as the other person has some respect for where I stand.

I feel you Mike.

But it seems like nothing more or less than a microcosm of the world we live in.
At times the lack of respect, personal attacks, and debates about whose belief system is right whether it be political or spiritual. Just look out your window or read the news. SSDD

What makes up the whole of our world are all the individual actions combined.
We all play a part in making it... what it is. All you can hope to control is your part.

I've been staying out of debates I'd normally jump in for just that reason. I'm a Moderator at a Philosophy Forum, and, no offense, we have rules against exactly some of the stuff that's being said back and forth.

I'm pretty sure I posted on this thread...but apparently it got bounced or never made it to the board...

Here's My re-Take.

I agree that we should strive to be kinder than we typically are on these boards. I mean half the sh*t I spew is pointless anyway..So I could stand to relax more than I have been...

But, I also agree with Lynard... I will not bow down ...
With me, its pretty simple.;
Approach me with kindness and I will respond 10 times the kindness. Hell I have a dozen best friends in real life who will attest to that.

Approach me with vitriol and I am inclined to come back swinging. I get especially peeved when people attempt to censor me, and suggest that I should not speak of certain topics. (Censoring like that is a cardinal sin in my book, and it reflects a weakness in the reader who disagrees with my point of view)

As a musician, I don't live in a vacuum. I speak of politics, religion...and I have my opinions. Many of them are reasonably educated. More importantly; many are the 'seeds of creativity' for me. I said this before; If a fellow musician ain't talking about a variety of issues in life, the chances are pretty good he/she ain't writing about them either... and to me, that makes him/her a piss-poor-boring musician.

As for cover artists...even the good ones are inclined to relate to opinions and issues...to best articulate the work they interpret and cover.

When I post: I will either make you guys laugh or I will piss you off...or feel other emotions... If folks dont like me here...There is always that ignore button (And you know you'll still check to see what I posted heh heh hheeee! )
  8)

I Love this site . All the reasons you talk about are exactly why I Love it.
We are aloud to be real people here. If you Piss me off I can tell you to F
yourself. But you know what, you cant punch me in the nose. You are
forced to either leave the thread or retaliate with words (talk). We
apologize or stand our ground. Many cant handle that and they are gone
or just lurk on the outside looking in. I hope you dont end up like that.
I commend BM for letting people be people. That alone is worth the entry fee.
The musical part is a bonus.
I suggest you bite your lip and admire the opportunity and ability to touch
base with a plethera of other exciting, knowledgable and interestingly music minded people. Expect bumps in the road. Expect disagreements. Also expect surprises and views you agree with. People are people are people are people.
No matter where you go you cant avoid them so just wipe that frown off
your face and enjoy the earthlings.[/b]

Seriously ...

I enjoy the freedom to be myself here despite the fact that it's a public thread.
Always been the type to speak my mind without consideration of whom heard or where I was.
Times I was proud I did ... others I had to choke back on that pride and make my apology.

Been in some pretty heated discourse here over the years Mike.
Some times my faith shined through.
Others only my ass.

I enjoy your presence and have had enjoyable discourse with even some of these guys with whom I have absolutely nothing in common other than our humanity.

I also appreciate your gesture towards a more peaceful existence and will do my utmost to do my part to make it so.

Very well said Klug! I think part of the problem here on this site is there is a bunch of OLD FARTS (like you & me) That have been there and done that! We are also set in our way's and very passionate about politics and theology! Also some of us old farts are just becoming aware of the internet world. Whew what a learning curve!
Having said that I will say it takes a little while for us old farts to catch up to technology and the courtesy's that go along with it. Yes we will pitch a Hissy fit, b!tch, moan, complain, whimper and snivel. I ask you whippersnappers to Paleeze be patient with us OLD B@STARDS because, well frankly I don't know why you should be!

I agree with you totally Jeff !! But F off I aint getting older , just wiser! ...

I also agree that this site and some of its conflicts are enjoyable and educational. I stay out of the conflicts as my ass would shine as bright as any here if I put my 2 cents in... There"s enough ass showing at times.
There is nothing wrong with being challenged , or in challenging others. If feelings get hurt it usually makes a person stop and think more times than others.

Positive thinking keeps yourself away from the BS....

I haven't noticed anything too upsetting. All you peeps are just a figment of my imagination anyway aren't you? To take anything too seriously would be a measure of our own exaggerated self importance not theirs.

Sometimes the rhetoric is funny, sometimes rather heated. Either way all it takes to cool down is the "Shut down Windows" button for a while.

Now, if we were neighbors that might be a different matter. But fortunately, most of us aren't. Does not play well with others avitars are missing on most forums. :D

How about posting a copy of "Peace for Dummies"?........ Naaaaah
