Sure, they've lost a step or two, can't hit all the notes as solidly on vocals, etc...

But... I enjoyed the hell out of it! Especially, knowing that those guys must be in their 60's by now! Rock and Roll "DOES" keep you young! 8)

And... WHAT A F*CKING STAGE!!!!

I was drooling!

Great to see them play their hits, and hear TENS OF THOUSANDS of fans, singing the songs with them!

btw...

Did you know who that was playing drums with The Who?

It is Zak Starky, son of Ringo Starr!

Zak's drumming idol, was Keith Moon, deceased drummer for The Who. And dad (Ringo) got Moon to give his son drumming lessons. Keith Moon, was also Zak's godfather!

And now, here he is playing the Halftime Show at the Superbowl, and playing with The Who!

Pretty cool!

I liked the show but it was sad to see only two of the original members playin'. Its kind of like, The Beatles will play the 2011 Superbowl.....huh?

It was OK but Daltry's vocals were canned, and I wasn't crazy about the chopped up versions of their "hits". Zak was playing drums when I saw the Who back in 2002. I've also see him play with Johnny Marr and The Healers, he's a solid drummer.

I was somewhat pissed at whoever was in the control booth, as they had zoomed out to about a mile away at that critical moment during "won't get fooled again" when Daltry screamed and actually hit that note. Brilliant, yet nobody in the world saw it happen.

As far as other things, the opening.. I felt sorry for Carrie Underwood, she's generally a really good singer, yet she frogged the intro and couldn't hold the note on the outtro.. poor thing.

Loved it, great show. Excellent medley of all time favorites. Daltrey was obviously straining for some of the notes, but wouldn't you be too at somewhere around 65 years old? I'm only 54 and can't hit some of the notes he did, and I could peg a lot of Daltrey's stuff when I was 30. Townsend is still a killer performer and guitar player, overall I think it was a great show.

Didn't watch the whole game, I was only there for the halftime show. Did find out later the Saints won...I just wish we had been able to line up a gig for the after-the-game party. after all, I'm sure this whole state was partying till the wee hours.

I read somewhere that they used a digital help (close to auto-tune but it was something else) for hitting that one strong cream he held out. Other than that one part, he did it live. That's what one article said anyway.

I didn't mind it. I thought they did a good job making them a medley, but I understand what you are saying. But they only get a limited time for the Half Time show. I think it was better to do it that way, then only have a couple songs that they could play all the way through.

One spuer cool thing about games like "Guitar Hero" and the others, is that my kids actually knew alot of the hooks and were singing them and just as enthralled as I was, even though they were watching 60 year olds rock the stage! :-)

That's pretty cool!

It's also humbling of Ringo, that though he is also a drummer, he got Keith Moon to tutor his son. Of course, we all know that Ringo is not one of the best drummers in history, by any stretch, but he is a good dad it seems!

Supposedly, John Lennon was once asked about Ringo, compared to their original drummer Pete Best. And Lennon is said to have responded: "Pete Best was a better drummer... but Ringo was a better Beatle!"

I always thought that was a cool response!

True. But they were never the same band post Keith Moon. There's no denying that. But again, Daltry is 65 and Townsend is 64, and it just blows me away, that they have kept their music alive this long, and are still putting on a good show at that age!

It's inspiring to me.

I think they were having MAJOR sound problems. It wasn't Carrie's fault I don't think. Cause I felt even worse for Queen Latifah, who was visibly pissed as she started her "America the Beautiful" rendition. She literally YANKED the ear monitor out of her left ear, early on, and it would have been THROWN down to the floor, had it not been connected to a wire!

Clearly Latifah could not hear herself in the mix, and yanked the ear monitor out to try and correct the situation. Which is why she sang so shakily for the first half of the song herself... and she is a decent singer actually.

I think Underwood was probably having the same issues.

Blame this one on the "professionals" in the control booth!

Digital "help" eh? How about lip synch to your rehearsal track. I spotted several instances of words not matching sounds, but then I've become an expert at fraud detection over the years.

Jimmy, I think you may be right.

I think I caught one of those lapses at around 2:44 of the second video!

Good eyes bro!

Yeah it sucks to be right all the time lol.

That's not to detract from Daltrey one little bit, things like that are not usually up to the band but the producers. A little smoke and mirrors, it's all good.

btw... That onside kick early on in the second half, was the GUTSIEST thing I have ever seen in a Superbowl! It helped change the momentum for sure, when it succeeded! None of the hundreds of millions of people watching this game, expected THAT!!

First time it had ever been attempted in a Superbowl, prior to the 4th quarter! We were SCREAMING at my house, when we watched them do it!
