guess jeff could start playing jazz then!
I already dabble with Jazz. Only problem is I struggle with limiting myself to one style of music. Besides I am too structured a player to play a style of music with no rules.
Just kidding Mark, I love Jazz. Having said that I'll just record some when time allows as I have me some jazz originals if there is such a thing LOL!
jeff, i know you're kidding. what w you being a big steely dan fan, i know the respect you have for jazz and jazz players.
seriously though, i'd venture that it takes as much or more discipline to play jazz (well). if you've never read charts in big band and haven't had to match your phrasing and dynamics w other players in your section...you should try it sometime!
same for hitting a melody w a horn or two in a small band!
just the other day i was explaining the rules for the different 8 note (bebop) scales to a student. you hip to the different added note you add to major, dominant 7, and minor scales?
C Maj = C D E F G
G# A B
C7 = C D E F G A Bb
B
C minor (Dorian) = C D Eb
E F G A Bb
"such a thing as jazz originals"? why of course....now, get busy and record some of your's. i'd love to hear 'em.
