I also wrote the lyrics at least the ones that can be understood. Wade through the screaming parts and then let her rip. I just write them and play them so at least listen to the whole thing. Thanks!

That's my speed right there. Very good work in my opinion. I like some screamo and this song is an example of the kind I like. You got mad skillz brother. I hope you do find the crew that can help you get to the level you desire.

Badass brother-man!

Liked it even with the screaming. Wish those parts were shorter though. :-)

God I hate real screamo though. It's like a cancer on music destroying it's soul.

They get points for creativity though, with names like...

Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis

Got to be the longest band name ever. LOL

I think it is good. And it also needs work, if you want to make it really good. Yes it's dated. So what? One of the guys in my band is an 80's rock diehard, and dammit, I'm gonna work with him on some of his 80's riffs and make some good damn 80's sounding rock songs out of them! :-)

I think for sharing tracks and emailing them back and forth or whatever, that it's a really good recording. I like the drive of it, the arrangement is pretty good, nice changes and starts and stops.

I agree about the lingering "soil" word. Detracts from the chorus, which sounded good otherwise.

I would speak the word almost, instead of singing it out. Think of a gutteral spoken "soil" almost satanic like. You could do it with effects, but to perform it, you'd have to just lip the mic really close, and speak like satan. You have to do it pretty fast, after the word "the" cause they fall close together, but I did it at home, and it's possible to do it effectively. In fact, someone threw holy water on me after I did it, so I know it's possible to sell it effectively. ;-)

Give her a try and tell me what you think.

What's up with your vocalist? Is he singing out or whispering? He needs to go all out on those parts. Tell him to NOT be self-conscious. You can't sing in front of people and be self conscious. Tell him to stop holding back. Don't be afraid, of what he sounds like, or what anyone thinks. He'll figure it out before long and get control. But not if he doesn't just get it out there first.

Didn't you say you were going to invest in a Line 6 amp or something? I think a better amp with effects, will make a difference.

The song has a nice driving feel to it. It's your vocalist that could make it come alive, but he's not doing it. Listen to :57 and see what I am talking about. He should just let it out on those ending parts.

I like the basic feel and idea of the song. "This is no way to live" that part of the verses is cool, and it's fine the way he sings that too, it has a desperate feel to it, which is what you want for that lyric. But he needs to be belting out some of those other parts.

He's probably got power he's not aware of. He needs to learn to sing from his diaphram. See if there are some vocal lessons on YouTube, cause learning exercises and just, how to bring it, from the diaphram will make a 100% difference.

Also, how are you recording with the Zoom? Through it's internal mics or through a board? Or with an external mic?

Thanks Craig, I'm still investigating my options for amp / sound changes.
I spent my "band money" to buy a new rifle for my yougest sons comfermation gift. ( its kind of a Lutherin rite of passage of sorts into adulthood.) And a man needs a quality rifle! I'll tell Ray what you said and I'll encourge him as well, He seems to do better live in front of people as he also does some scripture reads before each song and really gets emotional. The recordin is via direct line out from monitor 1 & 2 leads on the PA. I used the auto gain and compressor features as well.
As always I am open to suggestion and comment as I feel like the master of my environment I most aspects of my life but I'm way over my head here.

Hey thom, Listened to Soil, and have to go a little bit against the grain, but not much. As far as the Queensryche sound goes, I love it! I hated what spandex metal did to the entire genre and we never really got a good dose of the progressive side of metal.

As far as the bass, yeah, it's drowned, needs more pronouncement.

Guitar solo, sounds like something I would do; and being my own worst critic, would say (just like me) it goes from slow, to fast, to medium, to slow, with no real "flow". It's a hurdle I'm also struggling with, so I feel the pain on that one.

And now, the vocals...

Yes, you sound way too much like Hetfield in this song. The pronounciation of the 'MEEEE-YAH' made me think of just how sick of Hetfield I am and it really was the steak through the heart for this song. I envisioned a dokken'esque vocal line upon hearing the rhythm and just don't think the growling vocals matched the song itself. (the vocals in the beginning of Sacrafice were a good match, but then went to 'growling' too)

I listened to the other stuff you posted, love the 'o holy night' LOL, great song.
Other than that, most of the 'growling' vocals aren't my thing, but I'm old-school metal and probably "getting old" as today's kids constantly tell me...

Overall, you got some good stuff there. It's all better than anything I've ever recorded, so take my critique with a grain of salt hehe.

Well Yeah, the style is certainly not my thing. I almost don't want to critique it, but here goes.

The recording, levels, guitars, etc. All very tight. Nothing wrong there.

Except the drums. Sounded muddy, especially when going into the double bass drum.

Kramerguy, I appreciate your down to earth input. I'm listening to your stuff and I like your playing style alot. The song Crazy will probably be in my head for a few days thanks LOL. I agree with your review and have been rethinking the chorus on Your Sacrifice since I recorded it last year. I guess in my own opinion I need to take more time in shaping a song to the music . One thing about the growls, I love the Testament sound I guess . Chuck Billy is one of my favorite Growlers. He does it with such grace and conviction.

Thanks again

at last i get the chance to hear your new tune mike...i have to say it sounds great to me...full of energy and very tight as a whole....
as for the singing....well im just not crazy about your singers voice...when he sings he sounds just like the singer from placebo(i never like it when a singer sounds just like another) and when he screams....his voice is to light weight there is no body behind it....
he is by no means the worst ive heard and it does work with the music but its not my style of singing...

and by the by in europe we dont call it "scremo" ive only heard it called that in america...we call it....and dont throw stuff at me you scremo kids..
but we call it....."soft cock american rock" or " S.C.A.R " music...no offence intended mike but there ya have it...

good job amigo
