First of all I harbor absolutely no bitterness or jealousy for ANYBODY in the world of music. I don't begrudge anybody who makes it on ANY level in ANY genre of music. More power to them. Take a look at each individual who has made it big, even each individual in big time bands, and you'll find that every single person has a different level of satisfaction. Look at some of the biggest stars in the history of the music business and you'll find there's quite a few who were pretty miserable. There's been quite a few who were drug addicts and alcoholics, some who probably would have been happier just playing local dives or a small regional circuit. "Making it" in music is a completely individual experience. And it has almost nothing to do with financial gain either. I have enjoyed my on again-off again part-time blues band experience. I'm in a genre that is decidedly NOT mainstream. Blues is always part of almost any music scene. It is almost always difficult to get gigs because there's almost always too many bands and not enough places to gig. Very very few people and bands have ever really made it big in this genre. I do it because it's a labor of love (although I don't gig for free). I also have a family situation that frankly won't allow me to perform music for a living. I certainly would not have the wherewithall to tour. I've been offered a few full time band positions, but I'm grounded by choice and I simply have to be able to go home every evening. We do have some really good originals and my goal is to record an excellent CD, hopefully soon. I am going to market the CD but I am also going to keep playing local clubs and stay home. I like it that way...

Dude.. you just played the same stage, in the same venue, that *I* did. Why would I take advice from someone who hasn't accomplished a damn thing past what I've already managed to do for myself?

That's what this thread reminds me of.

That's because you're arrogant and somebody put you in your place.

Could it be that maybe arrogance is mistaken for experienced? And who put me in my place? Certainly not you.

I've played with dozens of know-it-all's just like you. Where are they now? Mostly, sitting at home complaining about how the world was against them.. everyone ganged up on them.. couldn't get that big break..

At least I'm out there, gigging and producing, and pretty much exactly where I want to be. Where are you? Gig much lately? Any publishers sign you up recently? Any of YOUR songs played on the today show recently? When exactly did your last royalty check arrive in the mail?

Face it, you are inexperienced, your demos are amateur and lack any real imagination, and you are nobody (yet), who hasn't gone anywhere (yet), but still you are giving us your sagely advice as if you already made it. Maybe someday you will be someone who is somewhere. Feel free to take your own advice.

Spare me your tripe. You've had some interesting things to say in a few topics, but 80% of your posts are self-involved crap. Get over yourself.

AH HAH!!!

I am going to make videos of all the songs I do, in the future. Hopefully with a high def cam corder. I will use all my guitars and make sure I am wearing really cool threads. I will be SURE to do some close ups of myself as I make my best guitar faces.

Then I am going to sit in the recliner with my dog, Buddy and watch them on the big screen. We will drink a few beers, eat some popcorn, and have a great old time applauding between every segment. (Buddy loves tomato beers and popcorn)

And after that, I shall become a legend in my own mind, not to even mention how impressed Buddy will be. Buddy is easily impressed by everything I do.

But naturally only after taking into consideration all the advice I have gleaned from this thread.

Can I send Buddy a few of my vids and get his opinion on them?

Buddy would like your music. He likes all venues of music. But I couldn't tell him if you send anything. He'd spend the rest of the winter waiting out by the mailbox.
