In a nutshell, the worst possible case is simply a social ineptness of "notable lack of Empathy or inability to register others feelings..." Maybe he'll be a klutz...though one day he might learn to laugh about it. They can be deceived by a poker face, or not... That's just it.. It makes no difference.
This is not to say they don't know right from wrong, or cant maintain moral integrity...but you should not feel put out if he suddenly were to drop your conversation with him like a bad habit and leave the room, for no apparent cause. He simply wont register the grace in protocol like the rest of us might. Still, Hell be fine... Most likely will be bright and cognitive...
I know, cause I worked with one who was a programmer. . He, did try his best to be polite and cordial (and they can be) and even went out of his way to show an appreciation for the Christmas gift I gave him one year. But he most likely had to be taught how to do that. Good natured , but not talkative.
So Zip, Its Not the end of the world, and his love for you will manifest in different forms...Just recognize them and run with it...
There is a lot of support out there which you will no doubt unravel as time goes by. Hang in there and give him all the love you can...
