... Dane, I feel I owe you an apology having misjudged your words and I thank you for the delightful clarification. This is a hard place at times and tends to make one think first of aggression instead of taking things at face value.
Jim Jones ... interesting. When I first came to San Francisco I lived in my car ...a ford Maverick , with my cat and Dog as I saved money to get my first warehouse there...an old fortune cookie factory on Hoff St. between 16th and 17th and Mission and Valencia (in the Mission). I rang up the recycling companie as I have loads of paper fortunes to get rid of and some pallets. They sent over John King (A Small Name In Darts) with his truck. He was from Hull in Northern England and since I had been in Manchester for several years we actually knew a few of the people in the music scene and most probably been to some of the same parties. John drove the Eurythmics around on their very first tour of the US.
We became good friends and are still to this day. He rocks down to visit me quite a bit and brings me materials ti use here. He makes his living packing parachutes. At that time he was a recycler in SF and invited me to is Birthday Party. He lived in Noe Valley with his Japanese?Hawaiian girlfriend...Joyce and her sister Sandy and Sandy's boyfriend ... Larry Huddleston (who was in reality Larry Layton.
At that time I knew nothing of any of this and showed up at John's Partywith a case of the big Beck's bottles. I rang the bell and Joyce answered and John from inside said who is it as she let me in and as I came into the crowded room Joyce remarked it is Stephan and he has brought Beck's/ I then said well it is better than koolaid to which the entire room fell silent and everyone looked at me in alarm. John grabbed me and ushered me out to the patio laughing as he explained.
Larry was out on bail and eventually went to Pelican Island for a bit. Now he is out but I have not seen him for quite a long time. Ta
