I would have to say some of my favs. are Mark Farner, Steve Perry, Lou Graham, Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades & Kelly Keagan, James Lebris, Rob Halford, Arethra Franklin, David Coverdale, Patrick Simmons.
Anyway the reason I thought about starting this thread is because resently I was on Lou Grahams website and I must say he is among the upper echelon of singers that I have listed here. Back in 1999 I had tickets to go see a concert with Foriegner and Journey and to make a long story short a freakin gig came up and I was not able to go to the concert, well my wife at the time and I gave the my ticket to my son. My son was telling me later on how Lou Graham was overweight and could not hit the notes, and the local radio stations gave Foriegner very bad reveiws. I just could not understand this. I have been a Foreingner Fan from the beginning.
So I just recently learned that he was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in 1997.
What a Bumm wrap I thought I have been treated badly from the music industry and trust me it will chew you up and spit you out. But to make it to the top as Lou Graham and Forienger did only to have your fans and the media turn on you after beating something like brain cancer to me is unthinkable. Shame on us. I am thinking that he probably didn't want to bring the band down with the media attention and that is a very honorable thing.
I was recently touched by brain cancer (not me) but a very Dear friend and band mate I had played with for 7 years was diagnosed in June 2006 and I visited him days before he died on Fathers Day 2007 and let me tell you it is a tough thing to see. But to beat it and then see this all I can say is Lou I take my hat of to you!
