Ok...I am a singer /songwriter and I've recorded about 30 songs. I have a website www.strangetimesmusic.com ..BUT...I need to get out and promote my music. I do not play an instrument (all the music is Band in a Box) it is frustrating to not be able to get out and perform. Most places wont take pre-recorded and i would rather have someone play live anyway.

I have asked and searched for musicians but no luck. So here I am on Band Mix. Anybody out there with ideas or better yet anybody who wants to get together and see what we can do... lets do it.
Peace
John

Go to a real studio and not a basement set-up. They should have
musicians on call. Pay the money and get it done.[/b]

Dont take this the wrong way...But 'Band in a box' seems to me, as the equivalent of serving up a TV dinner for the meal.

As a demo for this forum, its fine, but I don't think it would do you justice with the industry. The samples you posted do show some potential. But, my suggestion would be to assemble or hire a band and go hit a real studio.

Even with professionally done prerecorded tracks, your songs still need the guidance of a real engineer, improvements in mixing, etc, Ultimately you want that CD to get mastered as well.

SO the formula is simple, Real instruments played by real people, mixed and mastered by real engineer, all in the real context of 'your' songs. That's what the public wants... anything else is just a waste of everyone's time.

Paper Dog...thanks for the feedback. hear what your saying. i think the lyrics are strong but the music doesn't have the "feel" of the lyrics and that because one guy playing on a keyboard doesn't cut it...so...i do need musicians and make the music come alive to fit the lyrics.
thanks

One guy playing a keyboard can be SUPERB! A guy who used to be a regular here, Craig Maxim, played and even recorded all of this on his very nice keyboard. He even used it to record the vocals.

Have you tried craigslist,

or the local open mics?

Maxims material kicks ass...But I cant get past that tinny , cassio-like undertone of some of his electronics tracks... For example, The Train..He has really captured that pastoral of the dusty railway there... and then that gizmo posp in... Sort of like sticking a poster of a poster in front of an otherewise great scenary... Maxim can definetly play though... and he has managed to instill the feel into most of his songs...

He really is great. The only thing that's tinny to me is the drums. And I think if the were eq'd that could be fixed. He recorded that stuff after his band broke up. He wrote, played guitar, and sang lead in that band. Craig is the real deal.

neanderpaul...thanks man! I appreciate all the feedback and the leads. I had guy who played everything on the keyboard...and he can play well. Some parts are a little thin but...I know its possible to make solid music that way...gotta be real good though.

Can you give me your feedback on a couple of my new songs?

Learn to play guitar. It's never been easier. Good gear is fairly cheap. Electronic tuners save you lots of hassle. Tutuorials all over youtube.

I've been teaching beginner guitar to two fellows over the last year and a half and one of them has actually started putting it together.

The key is to start today. Do something now.

The songs you posted are not to bad just get into a band as a singer and pay your dues! It also might not be a bad idea to learn to play an instrument being that you are not doing anything right now anyhow.
I would recomend you give playing an instrument a try or at least find a band
and go for it! Besisdes there is always karioke
