As much as you may love everything about her, Craig, she's a non-issue in the world of politics, except as a bad example.

Oprah would celebrate any woman at all who hasn't killed her kids, man. Are you serious?

Media asset...perhaps...as comedic relief for real thinkers...and as a fine example for the rest.

They vote.

They took the time to answer the survey on whether they approved of the Governor's performance or not.

Why waste time on either thing if you don't care about it?

Wouldn't you think that the SMALLER a place is, the less that would be going on there? I bet they are more up on their local politics than many of those in states with much bigger cities and more going on?

Are they unaware of whether life is going their way or not?

If they are happy enough to give her a higher approval rating than any other Governor in the country, then at the least, whatever was right, didn't get screwed up by her, right? LOL

But seriously.

The people know her. They know their local issues. She was widely praised there, for her what she did for the state. Even her political opponents there admit this.

I can promise you that Palin will never amount to anything, politically.
Quote me on it, bet me on it, whatever your cup of tea may be.

LOL

Was that double entendre intentional?

We shall see. She has a powerful force behind her. I bet you will be hearing about her for a long while to come.

Run for President?

Seems impossible with how the media degrades her daily.

But who knows?

Images can be restored in moments, under the right conditions.

Maybe she will run for the Senate one day?

Maybe she will stay out of elected office, and remain a media asset?

I don't know what her personal plans are.

I know she has a best selling book.

I know she had a positively received appearance on Oprah.

I know she got high ratings on her FoxNews premier.

I know she will be around for a while, like it or not.

I feel what's behind her.

Oops! That didn't come out right did it?

LOL

Yes, some people took the time to answer a survey.
80% approval, but what was the total number of survey responders vs. the total legal voting aged population of Alaska?
Where did they pull the number from and for what purpose?
Who was she widely praised by?
Can you go to google right now and easily find which governor has the highest approval rating out of all of the states?

If a person answered a phone survey, and the callee said something like, "She's ok. I dont really have a problem with her", then that probably got marked down as an 'approval'.
Most likley she was a charming enough figure, and didnt roil the peoples every day waters much - meaning: 'Things are running fine and she didnt bug me or mess with my way of life.'
As for praise? 'She pretty much let our company do whatever we wanted to and we made a bunch of money'.

Wait a minute... was there another double entendre in there somewhere?

She is absolutely done when it comes to higher political aspirations.
City council, mayor, maybe something like that. A little t.v., and thats about it.
She will never recover from the past couple of years, politically.

Oh, and Glen, I'll bet you any amount of money you can afford to lose.
It doesnt matter how much money I have to wager because its a stone cold lock thats shes done.

Maybe you're right?

But why do you say that? What makes you so sure?

Also...

We know she is lacking in "knowledge" call it... book smarts.

What else?

In other words, the main charges I see leveled against her are "She didn't even know why North and South Korea were divided!"

Ok... that's a fact. A fact of history that can be brushed up on.

How do we get from there to some absolute assurity that in "reality" she must have been a horrible governor, but people simply said they were happy with her, because she is likeable.

Book smarts has little to nothing to do with someone's IQ.

That is a matter of knowledge.

She obviously didn't pay attention in history class.

Why does that lack of knowledge make her.... stupid?

Get me from point a to point b.

I get where you guys come from, but I don't agree with the EXTREMIST views of her. She is a VERY capable woman, and in EVERY office she has served, she worked for the people, and was praised for improving the economy of the state, building infrastructure, lowering taxes, bringing federal monies into the state, etc...

She used to keep a jar with the names of constituents, on her office desk as Mayor, and would pull one out every day, and call up the citizen and ask... "How's the city doing?"

She has also brought corruption and ethics charges against Alaska politicians, even those in her own party, who used state funds improperly, or politicians who had conflicts of interest with businesses getting favorable legislation, etc...

She is ethical and hard working, and obviously handles any task set before her.

Her knowledge of history and international affairs is correctable. She is taking the steps now, to involved herself in national and world affairs, which was clearly not her main focus as a servant of far-away Alaska.

My concern is not that. It is whether her religious beliefs, will interfere in her politics. In 2002 she said that would not happen. But BEFORE that statement of hers, she had "inquired" about removing books from the library, that residents had complained were inappropriate for children, because of foul language, adult content, etc... REMOVING BOOKS FROM LIBRARIES is a HUGE CONCERN, although... she NEVER DID remove any books, and claimed that the inquiry was on behalf of the numerous requests, and was more of a rhetorical question, than something she planned on carrying out.

Is that true? Who knows.

It is possible, I guess, that in making the request, she would then be able to let the concerned constituents know what the legal reasons were, that it was not possible?

But my guess, is that she acted on behalf of the constituents, and probably personally had her own "appreciation" of their concerns, because of her own religious values, and yet, thought better of it, and chose not to take such actions.

The consideration of it alone, unless they were pornographic materials, is still a mistake, and worthy of some concern.

Her career in public life is as follows:

Palin has served in Government for 17 years

Wasilla, Alaska City Council
SERVED TWO TERMS (Did not complete 2nd term - BECAME MAYOR)
1992 – 1996

--

Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska
SERVED TWO 3-YEAR TERMS
1996 – 2002

--

Chairperson of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
SERVED:
2003 – 2004

--

11th Governor of Alaska
SERVED 3 YEARS of 4 YEAR TERM:
December 4, 2006 – July 26, 2009

There was a poll out, saying that Obama's approval numbers are the lowest of any President since Eisenhower, at this point in a presidency.

Another poll out, stated that he would lose the presidency if the election were held today, and a majority chose "some other candidate"

Maybe he can turn it around. But I doubt it.

People are just angry. Banks and Conglomerates are getting bailed out, but the people who need it most, don't see anything for them yet.

When do they get the help they need?

That's what they are getting impatient about.

obama is going to stump for coakley to fill teds seat in the most liberal state in the country. her record as AG is a disgrace. TUESDAY is going to become the real second tea party. When an unknown person runs in opposition and takes the lead because he vows to vote against health care reform in such a liberal socialist state,, need I say more....
Tuesday ,,,the democratic super majority may be gone.... Unless as threatened they Stall in confirmation of a new senator.
Once again YOUR RIGHTS are being taken away and you are being told "IT IS OK"..........IT Really isn't :!: :!: :!: :!:

I dont remember stating that she was a horrible governor.
That lack of knowledge made her unqualified to be vice president.

I'm saying she wont recover from what came out her mouth in interviews.

You would have to spend some time in the lower populated, conservative western states to understand the mindset of the majority of the people who live there.
Imagine 1 million people or so with the approximate attitude of fisherman bob or sans.
As long as things run along well enough and the gov doesnt interfere with their lives, they are good to go.

She's hot, and likes guns which makes me hot. LOL
We should elect as many unqualified public servants as we can. Seems all the qualified ones are thieves only concerned with lining their own pockets while banging our economic bungholes.
