The gig this Saturday at The Hideout Bar in Spring Hill, Kansas for fisherman bob & The Bluefin Tuna Band has been postponed until January 23 due to global warming. It is readily apparent that the below zero temperature predicted for Saturday are due to global warming happening somewhere else...

LOL ... thats funny ... I don't mean having the gig postponed. It seems to be cold just about everywhere ... europe is in a deep freeze too.

Should have labeled the thread 'Gulf Stream' Fisherman. It's not as cold here today but understand why these things are canceled owing to whether. Not just the joint, it's people getting to and fro safely isn't it.

You'll get booked again, no worries.

Already booked for 1/23, same place, same time. Just need a little January thaw...

No it doesn't suck. I called the bar owner and asked her if anybody shows up when it's below zero. Hardly anybody ever does there. It would have really sucked to play at an empty bar, have the place lose money, haul all my PA gear and bass amp into my basement, by myself as usual, when it will be way below zero. I'd much rather make money for the bar and work in a little nicer temperature...What also doesn't suck is knowing there'll be far less ticks and chiggers on me when I go fishing this Spring because of the deep frozen ground...

That's weird, up here bars are more packed in the winter when it's cold than in the summer when it's hot. I don't think I've ever heard of a gig being canceled because of the temp.

As much as I'd like to play there tomorrow I'm taking the word of the barowner. I don't want them to lose any money on my watch. If I don't make a profit for somebody I don't deserve to get paid...

A very pragmatic viewpoint Bob.
For me, to have expectation to get to play out. And then get canceled / postponed is quite the emotional let down.

I freakin love to play

Be like my lady telling ma not tonight you'll have to wait till Monday

Fortuneately my lady doesn't tell when or when not to play. I tell her when I'm playing and that's that...

What are you coming to Kansas for? I'm actually right near Kansas City, Missouri, just inside the Kansas state line in Johnson County, Kansas. We are tentatively playing February 6 and most likely a date later in February also, but I've got to confirm that one. Gharet's been known as one of Kansas City's best sax players for many years. I'd love to get him into a studio someday when we record a CD. If you're around the K.C. area before February 6 call me (see my Bandmix profile page) and I'll give you directions to The Hideout, it's not easy to find. From Kansas City it's about a half hour to 45 minute ride...
