I am a new artist and am looking for somewhere to distribute my music. I have come across one site called Musicroy, which sounds quite good. Does anyone distribute their music on Musicroy? What do you think of it?

Heres the site:

Your a new artist, what do you play?

Have you looked around your local area to sell your music first?

Musicroy? What is your member name there?

You have until 12/16/09 3 pm

OR THIS IS SPAM and you should be punished

Firtsly, I think RGMixProject may be being a little harsh and hasty. This sounds like a guy asking for advice.

OK - Musics07 - I had a look at MUSICROY and it doesn't appear to have anything that other digital distributors don't have expect maybe for much higher fees.

The Musicroy delivery charges are as follows:

•Single (1-2 songs) - £24.95 with an annual renewal fee- £5.39
•EP (3-5 songs) - £34.95 with an annual renewal fee- £8.07
•Album (6 + songs) - £49.95 with an annual renewal fee- £10.76

They also have charges for TAKEDOWNS and TRANSFERS and CANCELLATIONS.

I couldn't see any options for selling physical media like CD BABY can either and they don't seem to be very high profile. The company only appears to have been incorporated on May of this year and has yet to file any accounts so info is limited. It looks as if the domain was registered by Solar Success Entertainment who are trading as MUSICROY and which has a note on the 2008 accounts of "TOTAL EXEMPTION SMALL" implying a small company exempt from audit. I would suggest that you do not part with any cash just yet and do a bit more research.

The main site is hosted with Media Temple who do host for some big name clients and you could host a site there to for $20 a month.

If I only had a choice of two then, just based on cost and profile, I'd choose CD BABY over MUSICROY.

Hey - I'm not plugging CD BABY - they're just well known example. Have a look at TuneCore as well as CD BABY - now you can compare all three.

Remember that this is distribution - not marketing, promotion or management.

Here's a couple of articles that could help:

Hey musicroy... I know you.

All, this guy got LIT up hard on HC a few months ago.

Proceed with caution, better yet.. not at all.

Dunno what his scam is, and don't care.
