ARE THERE ANY COUNTRY PLAYERS IN MIDLE VIRGINIA INTERESTED IN A SINGER? CHECK THE DEMOS AND TEAR ME APART
Well Paul, since you sent me a message for a critique I figured I'd throw it up here.
The first track - "the only lady in the room" has a mavericks feel. That's cool, but it is lacking something. Maybe falsetto parts in the lead vox?
"Turn around" is straight awesome. Your voice is much more suited to this song than the first. There is nothing wrong with the first track. This one is just so much more convincing vocally. an the 4th chord just owns this song.
The licks are big league too.
"hey bartender" is a throwback. I can hear your age in your vocal on the first verse of this track. Convincing musicianship here too. Some of the bright twangy dead on Nashville licks remind me of Alan Jackson's lead player.
As far as songs go "turn around" is the one that owns me. It is a great song. "Hey bartender" sounds like it could have been a main stream country hit in the 80's. It's decent. I don't care for "the only lady in the room".
Production is slick. A little too slick maybe even for Nashvegas. Did I hear a low b string in bartender? And is that digital drums? eek.
