Thought I'd post an update. My bassist came over and we worked through the issues. Maybe he knew something I didn't but we got pro-tools working on the hardware profile I set aside for it. We had much success in working on the session from the studio and we're really pleased with it. I'm still in the process of learning the ins and outs of PT. But this mbox2 pro came with so much software that I plan on taking this weekend to see what I can do with it.
You're right, for the average home studio recorder PT is probably over the top. I however wanted some room to grow and as I learn more about the program I think it will fulfill all of my expectations.
