Who'd have thunk it? We have those critters in these parts, too, along with lots of sightings of those legendary 6-foot tall roosters & "big black cats." The biggest thing I fear, however, is the useless deer that run in front of my vehicle at night.

yeah, rare to be attacked, much less killed by coyotes, but /shrug - whadda ya gonna do? Can't hide in your closet your whole life.

Yep. There were a LOT of sightings throughout the state a few years ago, but I think they were the result of ppl that had never seen or heard of an emu, before...

You can't really blame the coyotes. There are lots of "Canadian folk" I wish they would eat.

One reason I always tote a rosco. I,ve never been attacked. But have been stalked by cats and dogs, especially after I,ve taken deer.
Saw a paw print in the mud in the bottom of a canyon I was hunting almost as big as a pound coffee can while in Colorado.
That shyt will keep you awake and alert better than the coffee.
There is no such thing as a food chain, it's a circle.
You can be hunter and prey at the same time.

Shame someone did not teach that young man better.

Actually it was a young woman. She loved nature and loved to be in the woods, but sometimes what you love can kill you.

Ah, thanks for the correction Jimmy. And yes sometimes that love can kill, especially if it's the "Disney" kind of love that blinds you to the reality of nature. You may remember some time back I posted a photo of an aligator my wife took while we picknicked at Lake Caddo. He was small by Caddo Lake gator standards, but large enough to easly take the small children whom's parents were not intelligent enough to maintain a controled safe observation distance. Yes someone could have lost a child that day. When I told them "he's hunting us" they ignored me and looked at me as if I was the one whom was stupid. I stood off to the side a bit with my hand in my jacket until mr teeth went his merry way. Though I doubt my reactions could have been fast enough to stay another "tragic story".
