If there is someone here who is a member with Taxi, will you please tell me how you've done with them, and where/if your music was sold.
Thanks.

I signed up for a year about 2 years ago. Unless you are extremely talented AND (big AND) your songs are extremely marketable (i.e. sound very close to the crap that is on the radio now) then I wouldn't waste the $300. They gave some insightful criticism, but the chances of them even forwarding one of your submissions to the publisher is VERY slim. They'll rate your song from 1-10 in several areas (lyrics, music, etc.) and only 10's get forwarded. And that's if your song exactly matches the style criteria that they're looking for. I even got 8's and it doesn't get you anything. What I learned is that songwriters who make the money are the ones that are willing to crank out formulaic songs that match what people are buying... even if it's crap. I came to realize that I can't do that. I tried to write country music, but I hate country music so it just wasn't working for me. Not to mention you will be competing against a ton of experienced songwriters. I don't think it's just amateurs on there.
They make it sound like you have a good chance but it's still a super long shot. But if you won't miss the money and want to take the chance then go for it. I'm just trying inject some reality into the situation.

$300/year seems to be a bit much, especially w/alll the "ifs" they list on their site.
They can't lose, huh?
.
I didn't realize that they were only looking for the standard, mediocre-type song.
I identify with your opinions.
I'm not afraid to go up against the big boys, but I won't write ordinary crap just to make money with them.
If I just wanted a 9 - 5 job to make money, I'll get a job in a factory screrwing on bottle caps.
Thanks for the info.
