Awesome. You never know when good chemistry happens among musicians. Sometimes instead of no accounting for taste, theres no accounting for success. Of course knowing what you're doing makes success a little easier to achieve...

Congrats Rat! I in kinda the same boat! In my younger years, my friends and I would always catch this band called "Swift Kick" everytime they would come to town.... who would've thunk years later, I would be in the same band with these guys with one little change.... We've got the bassist that has done a lot of work with Stevie Vai! I still can't believe that these guys contacted me through my myspace and threw me their set list and we are now rehearsing in my own basement! These guys are serious pro's and are not afraid to let me know when I'm doing the riff a little wrong... everything has to be freakin' perfect and it's making me a much better playing guitarist as I've never had to perfect songs note for note...including the leads! Word of mouth is that these guys are thrilled to have me in their band but they won't tell me that to my face cause they don't want me to get a big head! They seem to forget that we've got mutual friends! LOL I love hearing stories of musicians who've hooked up with bands they used to think were waay out of their league! These guys were making serious bucks back in the last 2 decades gigging at least 3 times a week and they are determined to get right back into that scene! If I see within one year that I'm making more cash than I am at my day job, I'll go full force with it as I'm only working 4 days a week now and all my benefits are under my wife's plan anyway! I forsee a lot of weekday gigs and serious tristate touring so it would be imposssible to juggle both!

Awesome for you Crip! Yeah, it's a good feeling getting asked to play with people that seem out of your league, only to find that you fit in as well or better than most. I checked out a semi professional band once that was taking auditions for a lead guitarist (back when I was still in my twenties). When they told me they wanted everything note for note, I declined to even audition as that just wasn't my thing. Looking back, I'd like to kick my own a$$ for being stubborn. That would have made me a much better guitarist now, and could have been a great gig for me then.
It's also awesome that they are taking the time to point out the little mistakes and helping you hone your skills. Shows that they have a real interest in having YOU as their man. Good luck and good jammin'!
