Yeah but have you tried all your different styles like the mouth thing,I just don't see how it could taste as good as a Paul.

Welll. hopefully I'l find out today... if the tech gets to mine.. otherwise I'll hafta wait till Wed. I'm not in a rush... They ARE gonna do it right to my liking this time! The Les Paul I purchased was the worst set-up ever had done and the factory set up just made me hate it because I couldn't see mysef playing something that "hard" forever... All my other LP's play and feel beautifully, This particular one won't sound nice unless the tension is high as well as the action... Hell no... not my style... I love LP's but if you tell me that the Standard are hard playing, I'll pass...
Kerry I'm afraid your running into people that don't care or just don't know what the ..... they are doing. You gotta learn how to set up your own axe even if you spend time doing it. Borrow some kids "DEAN" and practice setting it up so at least you know when some "tech" is B,Sg you.
My old Paul has flatlined frets and I don't know if I want to fix it. My first Paul was a custom 54, The neck wasn't that good and the guit really wasn't playable. Sad. That guit is probably hanging on some collectors wall.
Bottom line is you gotta play what makes happy.

Glenn, This Paul was brand spankin' new! I did set it up to my liking.. as I did with my others... this particular model buzzes like crazy and can't hold a note no matter how I set the tailpiece or string height unless it's high and hard! Even the techs said that's the nature of this guitar! Well screw that.... I'm not a young kid anymore and I'm not paying out over 3 grand to play something that hurts me! I do have the knowledge to set up my own axes and you should see and hear how I set up my other Pauls.... They sound beautiful! This model is just very hard to play because in order to get that awesome LP sound, It's gotta be higher than I prefer off the fret-board and there's nothing that anyone can do about it other that filing the frets... ain't gonna do that on a brand new axe... never did, never will. Very freakin' happy with the PRS... and if I'm not in a while, I've got 30 days for a full refund! I'll know within 2 weeks if it's perfect for me!
Well thanx for the heads up Crip. Makes one think about other makes when you hear about stuff like this. Even worse is they don't realize they are not dealing with just some kid looking for a top brand. I thought all the Gibson necks and frets were COMPUTER matched. Maybe that is were the problem starts, NOTHING, NOTHING, can beat a real craftsman and when you get away from that,,,, you get what you pay for. SAD.

Sounds like it would be a slide guitarist's dream.

My first "good" guitar was an Electra Les Paul copy (Black Beauty). I got it at Burl Olswanger's in Memphis around 1973 and still have it. Right after I got it, I went with a friend who's 3 daughters had a little country band (one played guitar, one drums, and the other bass, and they all sang) and they were opening for Barbara Mandrel's band in Sardis, MS at a community center. He wanted me to be there to help out with equipment and stuff and I carried my new guitar to have in case they broke a string or something. We got there early as things were getting set up for Barbara. The guitar tech came out to set up the guitar rig and had an Electra Les Paul that was BEAUTIFUL. It was natural wood finish with flowers engraved in the body. I talked to him about it and told him about just getting mine. I told him I had mine there and he asked to see it. He played it a bit and said it needed a little tweaking. He proceeded to adjust the neck, bridge, tailpiece, and intonation, telling me everything he was doing and why. Since then, I have always been able to set up guitars fairly well. Oh, and after the girls had done their opening act and Barbara Mandrel's band came onstage, I looked up and, behold, that wasn't a guitar tech at all, but her lead guitarist. What a super nice guy, and a hell of a player too.

Just picked it up! Put on the strap locks right away, adjusted the pickups and plugged her in! The techs did an awesome job! Best looking, best sounding and best playing guitar I've ever owned... and lemme tell you, I've owned a plethora of guitars! LOL. Played it for over an hour and have to say, I like it waaay better than any of my LP's... And I'm a die-hard LP fan!
