Since I've already posted this track on the Thread Question for Keyboardists (VST Live), I've decided to add it to my profile player. It is just a Demo Sample of one of my songs that will be in my upcoming CD; it’s called Bottom Feeders.

Hope you enjoy!

Ya know, it's funny, but to me, all the newer keyboard-driven songs sound like throwback stuff to me. Esp the mellowdramatic approach like this one has for an intro. I wish you'd have let it run long enough to hear a chorus or let it develop for me. So far, it sounds like any number of things I've heard. That's not necessarilly bad, but I don't have enough info to say more than I'd like to hear more definition in the keys & perhaps have them a touch further in the background, & add a guitar with power chords a tad higher in the mix to modernize it a bit. It's very trebly to my ears. Is that the keys' tones, or is it the conversion to MP3?

Thanks for ther input, but that's how I like my sound to be, as far as keys and guitar ratio....it is my thing :P I'm not looking for a record deal or anything, this is just me expressing my musical ideas. It's OK if you don't like my style, I have lots of ppl who do like it (and no, they are not family or close friends)...lol

I've made a VERY quick mastering for the web player, because of most web players are shitty. That would explain the trebbly sound and there's also way too much limiter and compressor, you can really hear it. I'll fix that, when I get home!

And, this is just a demo sample, it is far from being the final product!

E.L.O.!
Sounds great, but like Phil says, I think it's a bit trebbly.

Groooovin. ;)

*edit* listened again and I know it's your style based on your last post, but I think the very opening would be kewl to emphasis the bass line a bit - make it more of a kicky bass - the kind that if you turned up your speakers the bass beats would pound your chest a little ;)

haha, actually, it is kinda like that, you just don't notice it as much, because of my shitty web mastering (too much limiter/compressor/treable).

I liked it Dave.

Is that supposed to be lead guitar on the intro? Where it's doing the melody line?

You need to get my keyboard bro. "Fantom G"

You would be in music writing heaven!

Wanted to hear more of the vocals. Cuts off too short.

There, I posted a re-mastered version. It should be better with the treable :P

I don't want to put more of it, because the section coming after that, is still under construction. And, my voice, my gosh, my voice...not pleased, at all lol:

CraigMaxim, I looked up the Fantom G and it seems to be one fine piece of gear. However, I don't have the 2k to buy it...lol. That's why I use a small MIDI Controller ($120) and VST Instruments (FREE).

Thanks! You've inspired me to consider getting a Midi keyboard ;)
Awesome vid. Very concise, to the point, unlike alot of other instructional vids where they begin by talking about their pets...

haha, if you are into digital recording and keyboards, it's almost essential to have one! Sure, most good synthesizers have a MIDI output, but not all Recording Interface has a MIDI Input. So, the USB connection makes it a whole lot easier, for everybody! MIDI recording is very cool, you can fix any flaws on the fly, by editing the track. Wish audio be that easy

If you don't already know, most VST Instruments are free, but the real cool ones cost about $50 to $300........................but, you could always torrent them

Hey Dave. Good stuff man! I agree with Phil -- it has a throwback rock kind of sound, and I personally dig that stuff! ;)

For me, the keyboard was just a smidge too high in the mix -- listening to it through headphones, you can hear the other instruments, but the keys are definitely dominent. All in all, though, I really liked what I heard. Good job!!
