This is another version called "Freeway To Stairbird"...also by the rev billy wirtz...

The original version seems to elude me, but it came from the LP, "Stairway To Freebird/On The Rag Again," in 1984.
Stairway to Heaven has been both overplayed & over-recorded by many many ppl, including Dolly Parton, Dweezil & Frank Zappa, Tiny Tim, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, Stanley Jordan, Heart, Iron Maiden, Lou Gramm, Great White, Richard Cheese, Dread Zeppelin, Geoffrey Downes (from Asia), &, of course, Pat Boone. Conan Obrien also did a short version on his Late Night With tv show. I doubt, with so many versions available, that I could offer anything really new, or that ppl need to hear it done by me. That's why I play the original Wirtz version.
The words, as I remember them...
"In a redneck little dive
I'll be lucky to get out alive.
It's Saturday night in deer season.
There's a sign on the wall
Sayin' 'rock 'n' roll 'n' have a ball'
And I hope my ethnic joke
So delicately phrased pleases.
There's a redneck little geek
With tobacco in his cheek
Who's yellin' in my face 'hey, man play freebird!'
He looks emotionally unstable
As he pounds on the table
And his girlfriend keeps screaming
'Play some Judas Priest.'
When she yells her cellulite shakes
From too many Little Debbie snack cakes
And her belly's floppin out in rolls
Deeply creased..."
& it gets worse from there...
