Well if your going to participate in some form of sport combat.
Get in the cage or STFU IMO.
Boxing has been eclipsed by both MMA and true submission wrestling.
At least untill the mob destroys all their credabitity as well.
And by the judges decisions I have seen coming out of Dana White's organization I can tell you it wont be long now. :(
Better knock him out or submit him or the bookies will win!!
That being said. I love a good fight.

Boxing is boxing and will remain the greatest combat sport ever. MMa is boring and so is Ufc, it's just a white man sport.

Boxing is boring. UFC is why boxing is boring to me. UFC jacks me up.

YANIDY, if you are a racist as it seems...... LEAVE.

I know I'm NOT a racist, but I have to agree with Yandi - I like boxing better; I think it's a better sport to watch.

My father and I were having this same conversation a couple weeks ago. Boxing is (again, IMO) more of an art form than UFC/MMA; it's more strategic and allows for more moments of pure drama. UFC and MMA seem to lack significantly in these areas.

I hold up as an exhibit the first Corrales vs. Castillo fight from May 7, 2005. It was epic. Ten rounds, three knockdowns... One of the best fights in recent history. It was total aggression from the first around and had one of the best endings I've ever seen.

UFC/MMA... there's not artistry. The fights are over so fast there's no drama. I mean - I've enjoyed watching some of those fights, but they just don't have the drama, strategy or artistry that a good boxing match has (now, a bad boxing match full of clutching... hey that does suck).

I disagree. There are so many more elements to mma to contend with. I think that adds to the drama. Is the guys elbow going to hyper extended? Is he going to get kneed in the head? Is he going to be choked out?

Plus boxing can be more dangerous. 3 knockdowns?!? That would never happen in the UFC. That is when brain damage occurs. Once you're loopy in the UFC it's over.

I never said there wasn't. Of course there's more to contend with. That's not the point...

Of course - that adds to the drama. But when you're adding to an already small number, it doesn't mean much compared to something else that is more dramatic. There are degrees of drama. I didn't say MMA had *no* drama - I said it was lacking compared to boxing.

You didn't click the link, did you? Sigh...

neanderpaul wrote:That would never happen in the UFC. That is when brain damage occurs. Once you're loopy in the UFC it's over.

Exactly my point. There's no chance for drama. The guy gets choked and it's all over. There's no chance for a comeback, no chance for redemption. No chance for a change in strategy to affect the outcome. No chance to see a guy dig deep and pull it out of himself.

Watch the YouTube I linked to. Because that's what I'm talking about.

Hey - I'm not saying MMA is not fun to watch, is not entertaining, and has zero drama. I'm not saying that. I'm not dissing your sport. I've watched it. I've seen Couture and Silva and watched the stuff on Spike. My brother-in-law loves the UFC.

What I'm saying is - and I'm trying to be precise here - there's a real difference between the two sports. And what MMA/UFC lacks is an artistry and drama that great boxing matches have.

I'm not trying to argue boxing in general - even average boxing matches can be pretty boring. But the exceptional matches... Haggler/Hearns/Leonard, Corrales/Castillo... They have something no MMA or UFC fight has yet to show me.

I'm not racist. Its mayweather who said mma is only a white mans sport, that's why they created the sport coz white men can not domintate boxing. Again it was floyd mayweather who said that but I can't show a link now coz I'm using google mobile phone.

To colorsfade, every point u said are all true. Boxing still rules. Too bad corrales died early due to motorcycle accident in vegas.

Modern sport MMA was created in Japan and Brasil.
Repeating uneducated and untrue racist remarks made by another does not clear you of ignorance or racism.
