You guys made some good observations . . .
.
Spacey - yeah - the song has a Pink-Floydish sound to it - until you hear it just as pure vocals . . .
.
Again - I muted every vocal track each time I was recording a new track - I didn't want to be influenced by what I was hearing.
That's why it's not tight.
But - I don't think it really matters that much when the instruments are added . . .
I could tighten up some spots, but I don't want the whole thing tightened.
. Then it'd sound too forced and rehearsed and unemotional . . . plastic . . .
"Tight" works for some songs, but detracts from others . . . read Bob's post . . .
The song was meant to sound spontaneous.
So, when I recorded it, it was spontaneous . . .
.
Picture this . . .
Imagine folks singing this song on a bar on the moon, 75 years from now.
Not necessarily a band - just a bunch of guys singing . . .
I can picture it, pretty easily . . . and I think the lyrics just might grab them . . .
I know someone will be living on the moon, then, and there'll be beer . . .
.
I'll be dead - but - who knows - maybe the song will still be alive . . .
.
.
Hey . . .
I have another song done the same way; about 10 singing tracks.
I recently decided to re-record the song from scratch.
I re-recorded it a couple days ago, but this time I left one vocal track playing; to tighten it up a bit.
I spent 6 hour mixing it today; it's coming along nicely.
This song requires more tightness; if I post it, in the future, you'll hear the difference.
. . . different chord structure, different style of music . . .
Of course, it seems every song I write is a different style of music, anyway; so the harmonies need to be different.
.
It's 90% mixed. And the last 10% of mixing will take as long as the first 90% . . .
.
But, I don't think this choral singing will work on many styles of music . . . do you?

Good job, it does have a '70's sound, not so much Floyd but Family.

There's not much I can add to what has already been said. The lack of "tightness" is directly a result of not listening to the previously sung parts when recording a new track. Most singers would record the root first and then record the other tracks with just the root low in the headphone mix for a reference. I tried to do the same thing when I recorded the vocals for "Into the Void"; I wanted to double track them but when I did them seperately they didn't mesh. I ended up using the first vocal track as a reference and it worked much better.
