I played in a band for about 20 years in Pa., left because I moved to NC. Got into a dictatorship (oh, did I say that?) for about a year down here. Got to the point where all of the songs I brought with me that we were doing were dissappearing one by one. It was either "we don't think that song is going over good" or "we don't like playing that song". Practice was like "Ok, we are going to learn this Skynyrd song today". It got to the point where I was basically the Yankee outsider in the band. Low and behold, I hadn't heard from anybody in a couple of weeks, so I called one of the members to find out when the next practice was. Got his wife, she said "Oh, he is at band practice". Hmmmm.......ok.......
Called over there and they were like "Oh yeah, we were going to tell you, we brought somebody else in". Yeah? When? Why the hell did you hire me in the first place? "Well, there is a lot of mistakes being made, blah blah blah".....Yeah? By EVERYBODY.....next excuse......
Needless to say, the band dissolved shortly after that, because apparently the guy they brought in wasn't working out. I'm not saying that I was any better than this guy or they broke up because I wasn't there or anything like that. They just had THE WRONG ATTITUDE. I have seen a lot of bands come and go, because they think they are going somewhere, when in reality, the only place they are going is back to work the next day. The thing that hurt me the most was the back stabbing crap that went on. Don't tell me everything is fine, then pull something like that. I am in this to have fun, but that left a bad taste in my mouth, and I haven't pursued playing with anybody else down here for about 2 years now. But I guess I can't blame everybody, so if the right people come along I will put something together. The band in Pa. lasted so long I think because we had no egos, we had fun, and knew where our place was. We weren't perfectionists, as long as people were having a good time listening to us, we were happy. We did a reunion show last year after 5 years, and it was just like old times. That's the way it should be.
