In case you didn't get the chance to check it out on the MySpace, our new song "Exposition" is up on the player here =]

Hope you guys like it. The show at Fletcher's is coming up soon, too (July 31st) if anyone can make it out, that'd be really awesome. It's gonna be a pretty fun time.

Better production...
Would definitely take this song to the next level. But overlooking that, vocalist has a nice tone quality, but needs to be wary of going flat. Guitar part is driving and interesting (and executed by a proficient musician) and goes well with the drummer who is propelling the song. I really like the verses, but I am not so crazy about the choruses because they aren't particularly memorable. Props for a dynamic breakdown.

echo that- the choruses are too busy with not enough melodic drive. verses good tho.

sounds like you've gone for a C phrygian sound here; F maj would resolve nicely to the chorus especially if you layer some A add9's just at the end of the verses...

The choruses will make more lyrical sense when the rest of the story comes together. This song is the very first of a concept album series with a complete story behind all the lyrics. The vagueness is completely intentional, and each of the lines of the chorus is a reference to another song on the album. I did my vocal parts in one take, so yeah, it gets a little pitchy here and there. I'll have to be forgiven for that.

Not sure how the choruses can be too busy with just straight quarter notes, though, guys. Or do you mean the drums? I've definitely heard that comment before if that's the cause. I'd have to totally disagree about the F major and A add9 suggestions. The last chord is there to resolve to the relative major of C minor (A flat major), which is a reference to the ending song on the album, which does the same, but then continues into a full major-key section.

yeah - the drums seem to be drowning everything out so its hard to hear the melodic ideas underneath *especially* the vocals which are almost drowned out.

Listening to it now. I like it, I was just going to start complaining about all the vocals panned left untill the song really kicked into gear.
A tad busy @ that point so my poor gunfire abused ears, lost the lyrics at that point as well.
I love the idea of a concept album.
Good job my man.
