Hey Tracy -

First off, I commend you for the courage it took to "put yourself out there"! I agree that some voice lessons would be crucial to help you build your vocal muscles, breathe correctly and stay in tune. You may also want to get out and perform to build your confidence, which would force you to strengthen your voice and see what it feels like to hold a note, belt it out AND hold an audience. Once you realize how singing with emotion can hold a crowd, you'll see the importance. This was my turning point.

You may also want to find a few more ballads to sing, which typically require you to hold out notes longer, forcing you to stay on key. If you cut a ballad, please put it up. I'd love to hear it.

Keep it up girl.

Thanks gopher for your honest feedback. I know I was off key in places and that has a lot to do with my nerves to a certain extent.

I'm getting a new teacher, I start working with her on May 3rd. My pitch has improved dramatically over the past six months since I started working with Brett Mannings program. It's Speech Level Singing and it's wonderful. My new teacher teaches this method also and since I'll be taking one on one lessons from her, she can instantly help me with all my vocal problems. Brett's program is a home program that I purchased online. I can only do so much on my own, and I know that.

Give me a couple of months of working with Angie and I'll re-record the song that I posted on my profile, there will be improvement, trust me. :)

Gopher, I know I have more work to do on my vocals, and I'll be working more on it in the near future. I hadn't sang for a few years until this past September when I started working on SLS method with Brett's program. He got my voice in the shape it is now and I feel that I have good tone and pitch and my range has gotten higher, alot higher. I still have work to do, and I know that. But, based on what I hear when I practice in my room, I can do it with the right teacher guiding me. Like I said, give me a couple of months and I'll show you how much I've improved. :)

Gopher, I do that constantly. I sing all the time when I'm driving somewhere, and I don't care if the car next to me thinks I'm nuts, who cares?! LOL But your right, the more you sing the better you'll be. I don't have that much time to sing that much though. Since I'm a single mom, I work full time so I sing when I can. The main thing I need though, is to sing around people more and that's what I'll be doing when I start up with my new teacher next week.
