I've been doing some free lance writing for the last week on mindless dribble...but making some pretty serious money with it. I just finished a home gym series of articles...16 of them...400 words each...The contractor loved them and the funny thing is, I BSed my way through most of it. Ahhhhh...the benefits of being a writer.

Anyways...I want...no...I need to write something of substance in the form of a song.....I thought maybe I could get some titles from you guys and see what inspires me. I've written a lot of songs from just getting a title...I tend to listen to other people's conversations and catch something they say and write from that.

Ok...so...titles...

If we provide a title for you and you write a multi million dollar selling song do we get any royalties from it?

I don't know. Song titles are pretty important. How about 87/13! :D

Sometimes titles can be tough....sometimes they just come. I have to come up w/ titles to songs w/ no lyrics so sometimes I make up my own words to capture the feel of a song.

One is ....Spango....that would be half spanish / half ago go

Another is ....Magnedico....took that from magneto in X Men....both of those songs have a latin flavor to them

Another one of mine is....Leadfoot....simply cause it's a great song to drive down a road fast as hell.

I had one song for 2 years I could not figue a title on, it's an all American theme type of song.....I mention this to my girlfriend and she says....why don't you call it Hartland....she did in 2 seconds what I could not do in 2 years....go figure.

Ha!!! Most of my songs are titled from a phrase or word in my song; not always in the chorus...and not always do I include the title into the song....I've just got a bit of writers block going on with song writing...been doing so much article writing that it's kind of bent my mind a bit. (not a hard thing to do these days)

I'm looking for a song with a message...but not your typical bs message...and not my typical cynical type of message....can't quite put my finger on it...but I think it's coming....

Debbie, I thought of this for a great Country song title a long time ago, but have never and will never use it. Help yourself to it. 86/14 sounds good to me. :)

And the title is ....... (drumroll please):
"Not Tonight, Dear, I Have a Heartache"

Hope it makes us lots of moolah. How many zeros in a KAZILLION? :P

Not Tonight Dear, I Have A Headache

I offered her some Tylenol
Since the Advil didn’t work at all
I slipped a Valium in her tea….
That only made her fall fast asleep.

So what’s a man supposed to do?
It’s been a month and now they’re turning blue.
I don’t think I should have to beg…
It’s sad but true the dog gets more hump’en on my leg….

Chorus:
And I don’t think I can hold back anymore…
I’m head’en down to the local jewelry store…
I gave her diamonds, oh for heaven’s sake…
I still hear..those words…..
Not tonight dear…I have a headache.

So I’ve given up the fight….
It’s been so long now it hardly crosses my mind
I’ve reconciled that this is how it’s gonna be….
And fall asleep to infomercials on TV….

Chorus:
Then one night, she snuggled, and whispered in my ear…
Those words, I’ve waited, for many weeks to hear…
I turned to her and all that I could say…
Are the words…
Not tonight dear, I have a headache.

Or better yet (drumroll please) "Butthole Callous". Now THAT'S a song title that presents an immediate image that people may (or may not) want to remember....

Debbie, it's not bad. And someone correct me if I'm wrong. But the title Ratsass presented was about a heartache, not a headache. Which I think set up a much more interesting title and subject to write about.

I'm gonna have to say.. I'd rather see a song written about the heartache scenario from a woman's perspective by a woman, than the headache scenario written from a man's perspective by a woman. I hope that didn't come across as sexist. I really don't mean to come across that way. That would have just been more interesting to me.

Still not bad though. You do seem to have a knack for writing Country songs.

"Tricking The Tax Man"

"Would You Do That For Me?"

"You Listen Too Much"

"It's Just Another Bottle"

"Too Much Information"

"What's That Doing There?"

"Tornados & Trucks"

"My In-Laws Are The Real Axis Of Evil"

"Extended Family Blues"

"I Just Wanna Keep Driving"

"Oysters & Jello Don't Mix"

"Mud Wrestling Queen Of My Dreams"

"The 2-Fingered Carpenter"

Gee...I could go on all day! This is as much fun as weird band names!
