So, Capt. just for curiosity's sake. What's your favorite era in music. :?:

That, Nancy, was an example of what I can do. Maybe you want to keep insulting somebody who is both capable of that AND who travels. Unwise me thinks.

Proper equipment? Obviously I had the proper equipment. I was parting out that car. I sold the engine and trans and most of other parts off the car. It's called overhead and I don't have it. Just like the one man band. I do EVERY job.

So how about you go away and not come back eh?

80's definitely had some cheesy stuff going on, but some of my all time favorite albums came out in the 80's.

Some of my metal favs of the day:
Iron Maiden - "Iron Maiden", "Killers", "Piece of Mind", "The Number of the Beast"
Metallica's - Ride The Lightening
Dio - Holy Diver
Megadeth - Peace Sells ...
Yngwie - Rising Force
Scropions - Love at first Sting
Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance
Accept - Balls to the Wall
Rush - Moving Pictures!

oh man, my list even goes into Echo and the Bunnymen territory lol.

Anyways, a lot of my personal "like" influences came out of those bands and more. Loved the 80's metal. That's when guitarists actually did solos ^.^

How could I forget the first 5 metallica albums? Echo and the bunnymen yep. And the cure. The 80's had plenty of goodness. The first 2 motley crue albums too. Most of the pop metal was crap. But plenty was killer.

>???

You know if you heard what the industry says about the heavy metal days of glam rock etc., you might just be yourself instead of whoever you think it is you should model after.

But go ahead, do what you love. I mean, can any of us be happy playing crap that you really didn't like in the first place?

I know I could not. Someone just insinuated that I might be up for some country and/or dance music. Long story short, I had to take 4 Asprin and relax for a few minutes as my head felt like it might explode. lol

I don't really know what you mean by that BUT. If there was anybody more true to himself I've never heard of him. I do rap, rock, pop, metal, spoken word, a capella, instrumental, etc etc. ALL BY MYSELF LIVE. There IS NO model for that. DUH!

You're not saying that I should hate a genre because a critic gives it a thumbs down are you? I don't follow critics. I listen to what I think sounds good ^.^

The 80's was wasteland for music? Holy crap Capt, did they freeze you in 1968 and just thaw you out?

The 80's has many fond memories for me, in particular music. Back then dancing was a big part of music; we were either playing it or out supporting friend's bands playing danceable music. People used to line-up, and many nights you had to wait for someone to leave to get in. If you were not privy to this scene you were either a kid or just not popular lol...

Bananarama, ABC, The B-52's, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smiths, The Misfits, Cyndi Lauper, Kate Bush, Simple Minds, New Order, R.E.M., The Psychedelic Furs and don't forget Satch was from the 80's....what an awesome decade. But then I also loved the 60's, 70's and the 90's....

Man I love the 90's too. The 30's through today all have great highlights for me but for the 90's. Tonic, Fuel, Sublime, RHCP, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Matthew Sweet, Lenny Kravitz, etc etc etc etc

lol Nah I heard some 60's music and vapor locked. It felt like home.. lol

After that bands like Judas Priest, Motley Crue, Ratt, Iron Maiden with the 40 different members etc. it just got old.

Rap was always the equivalent of a Dcon sandwich.. I often think if I made a video game, it could be about a time cop sent back in time to shoot AeroSmith/RunDMC to stop the beginnings of rap-rock.. LOL

NeanderPaul that earlier comment was more directed at Chris. (I should have mentioned that earlier and I don't dispute what you state in the aforementioned lines)

I like some of that 80's music, including the cure and that whole thing.

But it seems foreign to me, I would never think to play anything from the 80's. Call me crazy, but it's ok to listen to but I never gravitated to it.

I could have done without the 80's personally. Freeze me and wake me in the 90's, I wanna sleep a little longer.. lol
