.. back on -topic for a sec..from orig post #1:
..and the fault lies with the lazy listeners.

I was just watching some old Hendrix on utube and a thought occured to me.. It's not lazy listeners, it's lazy musicians. All the new musicians want to do now is get all tatted up, look cool and tough, and stand there and play. Used to be, as in Hendrix, there were true showmen. Inventors. He used to use the mic-stand for a slide, lite his guitars on fire and really put on a SHOW! And Alice Cooper. Talk about a theatrical spectacle! Where's all this now? They didn't shread, and 1/2 the time they weren't on key, but they sure as hell knew how to put on a show.

Well, that's kinda redundant, ZXYZ. These shows with crazy performers you speak of, are still out there. Just a different generation. And I think the latter is what's not to your liking.

The bands you don't listen to/watch. Even Nickelback [lol] puts on a decent show [bar the ballads] with cannons firing shirts and merch.

No, dude I mean the artists themselves performing and inventing on-stage theatrics/ antics, not the corporate merchandising or lighting or effects.. I do like Nickelback, tho.. as I stated in an above post I do like and appreciate some of the newer music. You cant assume what someone else likes or dislikes. You know what they say about assume.. :D

It was great guys.... what I see time and time again from the classic guys I have yet to see at all from the new bands I have seen... sorry, but the musicianship and care taken to make every note spot on live... is just... well... missing...:(
Now days you have 10 bands, 25 mins each jumping around with their guitars out of tune and the so called vocalist eating a mic imitating cookie monster!

Call me glam, classic or old school metal or whatever... it doesn't matter, I will always try to make the best music I can every time I play. And if other people actually like it... well.... BONUS!!

De-tuned cookie monster is best if you get 18 bands in 10 hours with 3 minutes between each band, and you have to make sure there are a few bands throwin in that use key's or synth so all the bands don't sound the same, some of the bands you speak of are actually good and I'm being subjective, personally I'm on a ELP kick right now (if only I could find a drummer to capture that kind of emotion and reign in the funk metal I slap out) and cell phone or not in my pocket the lighter might make a better statement about who and how you live your life and it looks a lot better to see a sea of yellow tears hanging in the air as opposed to various shades of electric colors, besides if your lighter dies oh god you might have to bum one...but if your cell craps out and somethin happens.....yah that might suck, as for being 'glam' nothin wrong with making music you like and to hell with every one else...half this industry is making a good image for yourself thats why people will pay money to watch 'God What Awful Racket'

And Z as for who puts on a good show I can't really say but I'd say that TOOL's concerts probably have an epic atmosphere about them, but I haven't been to a concert where the band made the event, it was more the crowd or number of quality bands, or what I'd do for myself
