Have you looked at a picture of our band?
No hair metal! New genre'
The last show we played there was a young band went before us. They were pretty good but it was balls to the wall all the way. Drummer had two speeds. Fast and stop. Hair was just a flyin.
When we got up on stage I pointed out the bassest from another band (also bald) and told him, watch real close now, I'm going to do that hair thing and I dont want you to miss it. Was funny at the time, I guess you had to be there.

The have a saying where I come from. "A change is as good as a rest". I firmly believe in that too.

I'm trying to think of a modern style I've not played and can only think of a few. Orchestral but then I found HOLY MOLY!

I think it fair to say I haven't covered much hahahaha

The real difference as I see it is the sheer size of America. If you live in a small going nowhere place such as I then its not only going to be hard finding the right band/people it could well end up being totally impossible, much less finding a focal point for your endeavours as regards a fan base.

Yeah I'd change, adapt and just get on with it, whatever style so long as I fitted in of course.

My one buddy said it best, "if you're bald you can wear anything on your head and make it look cool, even a bad wig."

Although we are in agreement that a really bad hat is worse than a "performance wig."

We have a sayin down here in Texas. God only made a few perfect heads. He put hair on the ugly ones to cover them up. I am lucky enough to still have all my hair. God help us If I were to lose my hair. You talk about an ugly head Whew!!

I'm always looking for new stuff to do, as long as it's melodic in some which way.

Okay, I didn't say that you NEED hair to rock. I said that I can't get my hair to move like that! Anyway, a bald head just would not work for me

I remember everyone telling me that I would go bald because my hair was so fine and a friend of mine who was bald always said that he was built for speed.

In any case bald or not, if you had the chance (There is another thread posted on this by a new member I think?) Would you play the music that you hated most just to play?

I honestly cant say that I love every song that my band does. But I do enjoy playing with my band and entertaining folks that want to hear us. Sometimes playing Roadhouse or Tush gets old, but we ussually seem to find a way to make it fresh in some way.

Life is full of compromises and unless you are a solo artist I dont see how you can ever truelly be playing exactly what you want to play.

The alternative is too just sit home on the computor talking about gigging I guess.

I think for most of us here, if we want to get out and play, we are going to wind up playing for the most part covers, once you start doing that your audience will dictate what you should play. The only way I see to truelly just play exactly what you want is to sit home and record whatever music it is you want to do and not compromise.

I think sitting at home recording and while a great thing to do is a limited function in as much as you have no feedback until the final product is delivered. Usually in a band the feedback is instant and consuming isn't it?

I suppose that's why my band just celebrated its ten year anniversary, we do exactly what we want to do, no compromises. That ends up being a 60/40 mix of originals and covers usually. But our covers are off the beaten track: Stooges, Mudhoney, Frank Zappa, etc. We have a huge show this Saturday, our new drummer is working out great, and people seem to love us. Life is good.
