I've heard a lot about guitarists of late but how do you s a drummer practice?
Is it just natural? Para-diddles in the morning?

I think a good drummer despite his skills is as good as his extrusions will allow perhaps?

I mean limbs of course, fluidity, that ability to get back in time when all (Yes you lot) have lost it.

Drummers get a bad mark sometimes. Perhaps no one is listening? :D

Just my wind up for today.

Our drummer said that he often plays along to music he likes.
If some thing he hears in a particular song he will work on that.
It always amuses me when I see a drummer tune his set. I'm all like what are you doing man? Need a screwdriver or something?

Yeah but to those who listen those sounds make all the difference I suppose? :D I tweak mine to my strengths really and my weaknesses too. After all none of us can do everything.

When I was young I used to think it was upper arm strength but that just resulted in harder hitting. I suppose to s strings person this would be like shredding and just playing the notes.

Getting back to my point though. I personally always found a sofa arm a really good practice place. Dust free Mom! God rest her.

Hey, Gumby. Nice sounding drums. What kits did you use in recording each song? Just curious.

My daily practice regime consists of:

on the practice pad:
30 minutes to an hour working on stick control on the practice pad
30 minutes to an hour working on rudiments on the practice pad
30 minutes on speed and endurance on the practice pad
and depending on the day another hour or two working out of Master Studies (Joe Morello) or Stick Control for The Snare Drummer (Geroge L. Stone)

on the kit:
30 minutes warming up to covers
15 minutes of Mike Mangini's C&C Limb system
15-30 minutes working on the double pedals for endurance
15-30 of punk drumming also for endurance
the last hour or two is devoted to studying out of books

ear training: I consider this to be practicing but some don't
1-2 hours a day transcribing songs.

All in all my practice time fluctuates a lot from day to day but I usually get in at least 4 hours not including transcriptions
