Hey John, that's a Crybaby on "Burning". I used my Boss Flanger and Overdrive pedals on "Eagle". I used a few different amps on Little Wing in addition to the Marshall. Sorry about the lame singing.

I can concur with Jimmy that cats playin' decent Jimi licks are a dime a dozen,
However...
The Captain's right about this guy, he seems to have truly captured the essence of Hendrix to a degree that it's totaly cool.

Hearin good performances seldem discourages me, but rather inspires me to improve.

Thanks a lot J. "Eagle" and "Killing Floor" are rough demos, I'd like to redo them someday with better vocals and recordings.

Jimmy on Burining at the end of the sections you just kind of flutter the wah to get that watery effect.

All sounds killer to me.

Yeah that's the effect John. Wah is still the best effect for guitar solos I believe.

I had a friend who gave me a great compliment on "Burning", he said he actually liked my version better than Jimi's! I asked him why and he said he never liked the keys or the mix of the original and that my version sounded rawer.

Jimmy live when I solo if Im near my pedal board I almost always step on the wah just to give it a little more midrange punch. Just try to find the sweet spot. Yea I like Burning, thats an awsome song and your version is great, it does sound rawer than the harpschord on the original.

lol I must be an under achiever..

If I could play like that dude, I'd probably put down the instrument and learn to play something else, as I would have known I mastered that genre.

I don't even like most other forms of rock/metal/hardcore/etc. That's my opinion and I am entitled to it, thank you very much.

You can cut your teeth on whatever you like, that right there is all I want to know about guitar music and in that style right there..

I may be a dinosaur, but you can take that rap rock and shove it right up there with the other planets that aren't getting anymore sunshine. lol

Maybe Ryan is right, long live the 70's..

Philby didn't like it>? No surprise there, didn't think your genre appreciates that, besides it didn't have any whiskey jug hooting in it/ obscure banjo...lol

I'll say potato and you can say PoTatoe..

Capt, I love Hendrix moves on guitar. but in that video for me the hardest thing I saw him do was lie on that fence and cross the fence.

His tone and licks and stage moves are all just common in the circles Im in. Ive been playing with my teeth for 30 yrs, I dont roll on the ground much anymore, but I have done that a couple of times in the last 6 months.

The licks on guitar are pretty basic, I would figure you had that covered by now.

But hey once again thanks for sharing that video, I had forgotten all about him. He was doing the same thing in the early 80s when he came thru Memphis.

I don't think anything he does is basic. You can tell he put in the time.

I think more along the lines of some of you guys don't dig that style and can't/won't play it. (ssdd)

It's cool, I am quite sure you won't find him busting some sh*t out like BULLS ON PARADE. (he don't like rage against the machine)

I do, however, doubt that you can cover that tune like he did.

He plays with tricks, yea-yea.
I am impressed with what he played (tonally), as opposed to how he played it.

He could have been trick less and I would have still thought he was the sh*t. (playing with your teeth is whack)

Don't deny what he does.

If it's so fing easy, why don't you mount it on up and play us some HEAR MY TRAIN A COMING...(use 1 track and don't layer it)

And don't substitute other tunes for this one.

Everyone is a critic and has great ideas to improve, until it's your turn. Then the clucking starts.

Think his sh*t is old and hackneyed? I've heard worse, recently and live, let alone on memory-fing-ex..

You MIGHT be able to play it, but would it be great? I fing doubt it.

Don't hate on people because they can do something a little different than you do. Take what they teach you and make yourself better.

And don't put down what they play just because you do something better.

You don't see the chap playing reggae proclaiming his is the only, one true, correct genre. That'd be just plain stupid.

LOL, Cap! I ain't no whiskey jugger banjo picker dude!

Yeah, he was a great live performer, but I wasn't drawn into it, musically, enough to listen without the visual show.

Anyway, though I ain't nearly that good, I got this going for me - that dude didn't play a single note that I haven't played at one time or another! So there!

Capt,

I hope you have a Great Weekend and by all means keep practicing and maybe you can grow up and be as good as the guy in the video.

You think that's a slight, I think that's "spot on".

Maybe you are just more of a musician than I aspire to be.. LOL

My idea of good music is Beatles, Revolver, Tomorrow Never Knows. That's the ticket, n o k i d r o c k will ever roll from out my pie hole.

I still don't hear anything like "hear my train" out of anyone so far. (You want my adoration? You got it for that, pending my listen to. Yeah I know what you're saying already.. That's the way I would quantify it, just so you know. The guy is a hobgoblin, and certainly not a "Jimi" and all that entails. But you know he could be R.Trower's love child etc. It's all good to me. lol)(Good Music is in the ear, not in the eye.)

You know I was going to "roll it back" a little, as I heard some slack over the remarks I made yesterday. I still stick to my guns, though. I think people hate on things that they can't do/don't relate to and it's an inappropriate response (yeah that was ME talking) in that everyone has something to share, thus learn from ultimately.

If you are "above it all", hey that's great but you need not waive that flag as typically the crowd is about as apt to kill as they are kiss ya.

And that's where I live, in that sound. I like the sound, not the song. His tones were making me drool.

]Repeating note for note what was done there = typical, static, unimaginitive and/or stale. Vocals were mersh.

]Repeating that tune with slight variation, sonic gardeners called in, new colors/sound created by effects that sound different, yet wonderful = artistry, plain and simple.

"Crawling over the barricade into crowd" and "the back roll" were the only tricks of his I liked, otherwise I classify him in the "sonic assault" category and you know, if you have a ticket and some time and an open mind, it's a wonderful day to get lost in the stratosphere.

Just don't fly too high, Icarus. It's a long way to the deck below.

If I have pissed anyone off badly in this thread, I do apologize.

Sometimes I feel like someone lit a match on my head and it wasn't no Ohio Blue Tip. lol

Seems we saw another Jimi impersonator last week in another thread here at the mix. I like this one better. The problem I have is I cant figure out why. I loved it when Hendrix did it, but here all I see is another wannabee. I guess if he had come out with a song or two of his own and put that kind of energy into it I would be the first to buy it. No hate, just a love for something new and different. Tribute bands are Ok. And Playing a few covers is all good. But IMO some people need to get a life!

Its another day in Paradise !!!
