shooot I must be lucky, music is what brought me an my lady together, she had a tuner I needed, so I guess that means that she's worth about 30 bucks to me, she didn't like that :( but oh well, she just gets mad at me when the rugrat gets into some thing she shouldn't, or when I want to sleep in

Man I just check in for a little while and stick my nose in everybodys business. On days I am home I drop by every few hours just to see if I can find something musical to talk about between guitar practice and doing the laundry.

The LP Goddess, well that one was an aniversery gift to myself. LOL.
I must have caught the Equipment Acuisition Syndrome last year when it was running through the Bandmix community.

In truth I have actually picked up a couple of gigs by hanging out and messaging other Bandmixeros. I hope that trend continues. 8)

I'm no ladies man and haven't had a lot of girlfriends, but when this issue does come up, I simply inform her that she met me onstage with a guitar in my hands, I'm a musician and that's number one, take it or leave it. Usually that stops the head games.

My last one was not exactly a girlfriend, we dated for 2 years and are still very close friends, but she was very supportive of my music, my biggest fan and best/harshest critic. Went to every gig, insisted on helping load and unload equipment, even when her back was messed up. (I handed her a Skoal can full of guitar picks and told her DO NOT touch anything else) She's 4'10", 90lbs if she puts 2 rolls of quarters in her pocket and still carried guitars in every time. When I went to Baltimore she was more excited about it than I was. when I told her I was going to Vegas the first thing she said was maybe I could find some music going on here.

Something happened along the way and we haven't "dated" in 2 years, but are still best friends. It's a long story and kind of personal so I won't go into detail, but she got the idea I was acting too much like a boyfriend and kept me at arm's length since then. I still love her to pieces and she feels the same, but it's just friends these days.

Bros before hos.
I tell each girl I'm with that, usually they're cool understanding that and say "I wont hold you back." But being the metal head that I am with relationship issues I usually break up with them. Why you ask?
Because I'm a metal head get used to it.

Our 1st commandment of the band is:
Thou shall place the band first.

yah viking, my mom doesn't like that phrase, but its so true........cuz life isn't bound to be happy if you put your ho before you bro's, but when you have a fully formed and functioning embryo running around it makes life difficult in that regard, wish I could land a band around here, but most people either play in a jam band or a metal band....what about jam metal?!? stupid new yorkers

I'm a true musician but I have a family...I must put my family first especially my husband. My family are the only people that I can go to and say...here, listen to this. Here I am playing blah, blah, blah!!! And here I am playing with blah, blah, blah!!! We are all like that. If I were going to be married to my flute, then I would not have gotten married nor would I have had kids. You've got to be able to make room for everything and everyone that you want to be in your life. This includes everything, your health, your love life, your music. Besides, you get laid more often when you give your significant other the attention they need  The more you get laid, your imagination and musical flow gets bigger, yo.

I agree Black 57, you need balance in your life to be happy. I have 4 kids and 2 stepkids 2 are grown and my daughter lives away with her mother and 3 teens at home 13, 15 and 15.
I am leading a band, work a full time job and play out every weekend. I wouldn't trade my experiences growing with my kids you grow too, as we enrich their lives and they ours.

After raising all these kids my lovely wife and I are going to have some serious empty nest problems in a few years.

I agree with and respect Haley's and Black57's responses. After all, bands/projects will come and go. Your family is there throughout the musical ebb and flow. You have to take care of and support the ones that take care of and support you. Otherwise, you'll end up with an empty home and no music... ...and that would be sad...

I got to agree with the "family plan". Especially the brain stimulation part.

But the post was about "girl friend" and in my book "girl friend" dont count as family.

The boys I came up around, we would share a girl friend. But you could get killed over someones ol lady.
It was a cockroach way of living but thats the way we were.

Man what crawled up that faggots ass?

I guess cockroaches think being married to the same woman for 30 years and raising four kids is easy.

My other half didn't believe a word of what I said when I told her I can play various things. When on a shopping trip I played a Glockenspiel much to the amusement of store staff but to my wife? Well she was shocked.

I never make a big thing of it but now that I'm in the pipeline as it were I oddly enough feel comfortable with her listening to my stuff and see what she says about it.

In the past I've never had a problem. It always meant a night out! :D
