I am trying to book our band Maggie Valley Girls for may 15th, or may 17th or sometime in august as they are booked up otherwise. they are in town to play at a bluegrass festival with ralph stanely but i want to book them and i'm not exactly sure where to start. I want to book them in Asheville or closeby and i have called several places that haveb't gotten back to me, but where else can i call? coffee shops, venues, anything, churches, whatever! any advice please

If you were in Texas, I could hook you up. Got an e-mail from a friend whom books bluegrass bands for a local community center just today.

You will get a lot more response and respect if you post musical examples. Without them you are wasting your time on Bandmix.
You will just get ignored as another "poser".

Good luck.

Call the town's Chamber Of Commerce & ask about venues. If you're REAL nice to the person you talk to ( & REAL lucky) & send 'em a CD & befriend them, they might even help you get intro'd to ppl there. That happened to me once on a lil trip I made.

also try looking up bands that are in that area, check out their myspace pages and see where they are playing.. then call the places and see if they can fit your band in.
