Ratass, check for a new sound card driver..

I just saw that going on with a laptop and we fixed it by using the newest sound card driver I could find..

Rat I have Ubunto too (Sorry about the pun in line) Are you using Ardour?
I have sounds card issues too but I'm not running it as a studio at the moment although I fully intend try this year.

I think if you look through their wicki pages you might find a list of sound cards that do work.

my sound won't work on all applications unless I reboot. It seems to depend on what I listen to, Youtube, myspace, mp3, movies. Can't get much help on Ubuntu forums because all PCs are different and that makes a big difference on how Ubuntu operates. Looks like I'll have to change back to XP and I HATE that.

Well, I ran a test on my hardware and the soundcard worked fine. I found that sometimes when it's not working, I can start JACK and then stop it and it will get it working. I have Ardour, but haven't messed with it as I needed to get the soundcard issue fixed first. When I really get ready to get into it, I'll check that Wiki site before buying an expensive sound card (which I know I will probably need), as I am just using the soundcard that came with my PC now. Thanks for the input.

Guess I'm missing something there. Can't seem to get any kind of song there. Don't want to discourage you, but, you have got to get some kind of structure in your style......

Your soundcard may be fine.. he said update the driver. And that could well be your problem. But then again, there's a million reasons why it wouldn't work.

I still can't figure out why -sometimes- I record stuff in the right channel more than the left, even though all my settings are "neutral."

However...

I listened to it all the way through, and kinda liked it. That noise at the end cleaned out my Eustachian tubes!

Yeah, but if ya listen to Ms Sep's Punk- beer song on her profile,, you may well be surprised at the level of creativity that can bubble outa' the 'ol poop hole! I must admit, its one of the best things I've heard on anyone's profile for a while, including my own. Gotta give the devil her due!
(the dear British lass has an interesting way with words as well, which has made me chuckle more the once. (however, I'm always sure that none of the grandchildren aren't lurking behind me when I'm reading Septic's posts!
