You've been singing for some time. You've got a voice that somebody values. I'd say make me an offer I can't refuse. What can't you refuse? $25 per hour? $50 per hour? If you spend eight hours in a studio you should get at least $300 minimum AND you should get full credit on any finished project. If the finished product ends up being redeeming in your opinion then you can use that as a way to get future jobs. You could get legal minded and sign a contract of some kind. If the finished product ends up making somebody some serious money and you HAVEN'T signed a contract then don't expect to make any more money off it. You haven't really given us a definitive idea of what this project is EXACTLY about. Is it going to end up on a CD for sale to the public? Or is it going to be on a demo CD helping this person get gigs where he lives? I would absolutely NOT do this for free whatsoever. You don't know jack about this person so you owe him NOTHING. Treat this as a job based on YOUR TALENT. The people here on Bandmix know that I hate giving anything away in this music business. Sign a contract. ALL expenses will NOT be paid by you. NOT one penny. You WILL get at least $25 to $50 per hour. You WILL get full recognition for your contribution. YOU will get a small percentage of any profits should the final product be sold to the public. My two cents...
