Howzabout "Highway Star" by Deep Purple? That's a challenge for ya.

Some of the Marillion stuff night fit your range better, though. Try "Misplaced Childhood" or anything from "Script For A Jester's Tear."

I can catch most of these lyrics. Thank you for that, Ryan. I actually got into these two, & that surprizes me. I'd still like you to hear you do some more traditional singing, though, just to hear a more "natural" sounding vocal from ya.

I did like the explosion-like sound at the end of "Ruin," too. Better than most I've heard so far in this genre.

Anyway, I just posted a third cover on my page.

"The Siren's Song" by Parkway Drive

Ry,
I made it all the way through "Ruin" and I must confess, you're a pretty friggin' good screamer!

Just curious, how do you produce the backing tracks? If you had a live band that sounded like that, you would even be givin' Mikey Gentry's "Dressed To Kill" some serious competition!

I was thinking, What you would sound like singin' McCartney's "Oh Darling" from the Abby Road album. (I used to be able to do it, along with Plant's "Communication Breakdown" but I doubt I could pull either one off these days. Why don't ya give 'em a shot, then all the old guy's minds would be totally blown!

Man, just listened to Telephone-Poles. I'm somewhat of a lyricist and I really like that kind of music. After hearing that and Ryans vocals, I had a bit of an idea about the chorus (those would be the 4-measure parts between the 8-measure parts I'm guessing). Something like:

Driving home counting those Telephone Poles
Driving home dodging those Telephone Poles
Telephone Poles reaching to the sky.
Telephone Poles gonna make me diiiiiiiieeeeee!!!!!!(last word "die" going off into a scream that holds and modulates during some measures of the 8-measure verse. If it holds for 2 measures, you have a 6 measure verse. If it holds for 4 measures, you have a 4 measure verse. Intro could start with that scream for same number of measures so that verses 1 and 2 are equal).

Let me know what you think and I'll try to come up with verses.

I use Adobe Audition to remove the vocals from songs...Thats why they sound kinda weird.

You can also remove vocals from songs with the free program "Audacity"...If anyone would like to know how, I can help...

Ryan- Hey I use Audition(2.0) too. :D Had it for a few years now.

Rat-thx for the input , sounds cool!!
It doesnt have to be named 'telephone-poles' tho, I just label my vocal-less songs sometimes with whatever comes to mind.. Good lyrics tho !!

Old guy chiming in! What you do is seriously an impressive talent. I still can't get into it. If it doesn't damage your cords then MAN that person you said pioneered it is very talented. Are there any singers who have been at this style (that doesn't damage but sounds like it should) for 10 years or more to back up that claim? and man it is a trip for real to see that baby face (that is a compliment not a cut) and hear that monster voice coming out of it.

For real you do own your style. You've got it by the sack and it is yours to control. Rock on Ryan!

The vocalist from Lamb of God (Randy Blythe) has been doing it for almost 10 years, and he just keeps getting better and better. He's my main influence, and I've been told I sound like him in his earlier years. A great compliment :D

Fry screaming is the way to go...And remember to stick to my #1 rule: If it hurts, stop.

^ ROCK!! 8)

On a side not. You have been very supportive of my work here and it boggles the mind that you would make the music you do and still like what I do.

I like all music...I don't limit myself to a genre. If I like it, I listen to it. Though you'll never find me strolling along to a rap/hip-hop song
