Gee...I think he needs to join the teletubbies, or perhaps Sesame Street...I can hear him teach the kiddies now - " 'F' stands for..."

Look, dude - you are new here. You don't know a single person on this forum. You have zero background to judge whether I am Mozartish or not. Yeah, I gave myself a 9 for creativity, but you have no idea why, do you? You just jump on it like a drunken carnivore with halitosis spewing from your septic mouth. At least I'm creative enough that I needn't use the same word all of the time, ya hack. You really need to bone up on your vocabulary. Back to the hole you came from, junior. Come back when you have either something worthwhile to say, or you can show anyone some respect.

After reading your usual post comment, I feel no desire to hear your music. It 's funny how you can drive ppl away like that. I expect it's a talent that crosses over into your daily life. Have fun with yer whammy.

I'm sorry guy's i was just tugging your chain and admittedly went more than a little too far - humbly sorry

I did however mention in my last post that i've heard some great musicians on the site, and find it great to hear the support you give each other - that deserves praise :D

In the UK they don't have such support, and don't get me wrong there's lots of great guys online who will help, but i'm talking grass roots.

Anyway - no more foul mouth and 9's a good average dude. We all got talent which i'll behave and share with you for your approval or canning.

actually not a Brit - Aussie and shameful at that

Obscenity: A weak mind trying to express itself forcefully.

OK, I had to...just settle down and act your age and we might just accept you around here, looks like from that last post you might be trying to do that so I'll stop short of what I was going to post and leave it at that.

Myself, I think luck has been the worst of my problems, that or just never being in the right place at the right time...

otherwise I'll see if I can figure out some numbers since that seems to be the point of this exercise.

Talent - 9
Knowledge - 6
Desire - 10
Dedication - 10
Personality - 3
Perseverance - 10
Creativity - 4
Luck - 0 (or do we have to put 1...)

Someone else can average it out if you wanna know, I don't care...but I do think the 90/10 rule is pretty correct for almost everything.

10% of the people are responsible for 90% of the crimes.
10% of the people do 90% of the work.
10% of the people control 90% of the money.
90% of the politicians have 10% of a brain. (couldn't resist that one)
10% of the musicians have 90% of the talent.

And so forth. Sometimes it's said to be 80/20, but I think 90/10 is more accurate.

Glad the bitterness has ended, life's too short.
I would but heck by the time you have counted all of those subscriptions and deals online, they all mount up.

YouTube is a good bet, is free or if you are lucky enough to be me you got your own place.

Thanks fellas - alas no bitterness intended -- just plain stupid that's me.

Well bridges to build from the ashes of my own stupid match fiesta!

I would like to get feed back from you guy's, think your music communitys healthy (without my input) but that said still like the support you guy's give each other.

Seems i've got a few appologies to make

Getting back to the original post, I disagree wholefartedly with the notion that only 10% have the ability to become musicians. I believe 100% have the ability to become musicians. The only factor that keeps someone from becoming a musician is the inability to do HARD WORK. Some people for whatever reason (drugs, psychoses, controlling wives/girlfriends, etc.) don't put in enough HARD WORK to get there. That's it. How to become a musician by fisherman bob: WORK YOUR BUTT OFF. Later...

I agree dispite having a mental age of 10 (last thing said on the subject) I've seen many bands break down through the lack of hard work, and rehearsal- work is the key to any degree of success and unfortunatly self sacrifice!

I'll throw in here;

hard work = musician

hard work+talent = good musician; with variations in work and talent deriving variations in end musician quality.

talent encompasses many areas and is difficult to quantify, though not to reckognize; big ears, dexterity, creativity, affinity for instrument, ability to improvise-many-many more aspects-I couldn never name them all-something new would always come up.

Good luck + musician/ hardwork= working musician; variations in luck and work derive variations in level of "success."

Talent has little to do with anything but your own personal level of achievement in your given instrument-seperate from the profesion of being a musician. Talent speaks mostly to the art of it. It won't hold you back-it can even help-but most musicians are average in talent-the ones that "make it" and the ones that don't. Name me an exemplary musician who is famous and I'll name you an average one too. I bet we could go all day LOL Though-that's tricky-'cos our perception of talent and quality are so subjective.

Talent probably is a multiplier in factoring the hardwork value however...if you believe you are talented, have something to say-it will help fuel your drive and determination. So I guess it is a variable in the ultimate question of working, but I don't think it's paramount.

The odds are so against getting work-there are so limited gigs, limited deals...I have found myself after nearly 25 years focusing more on the art of it. "Success" is a Questing Beast I don't care to chase anymore-though, I do want to be active in the region I live in. But I have no delusions about making a living at it! Not any more! That said-if you think you can do it-make it big, make it to the level of paying your bills-do it-try to do it. I tried and at least have no regrets! I have collected so many interesting associations and friends and cool stories through the years I could never regret it, even the failure of the ultimate goal!
