This one is a little tricky. I'm not really thinking in the realm of personal preference. It may be something that you didn't even listen to, but you can't deny the strength, consistency and/or commercial success of the album.
My choices (and opinions):
Hysteria-Def Leppard. How many bands follow up their biggest album with a BIGGER one. If my memory serves, 8 of 12 songs were singles and, to varying degrees, hits.
INXS-Kick. INXS was a popular band, with a few hits. Kick put them on top. Consistently strong material throughout the album.
The Black Album-Metallica. Mainstream Metal? Although it alienated some hardcore fans, the album solidified them as one of the few definitive metal bands.
Appetite for Destruction-Guns 'N' Roses. Graphic, disturbing ooze flowed from every note on this set (okay, now I'm getting carried away) and changed the landscape of music forever.
For the record, I'm not a big GNR or Metallica fan. Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
