Hi all,
And good news on your dad sanshouheil... I reckon it was from my nuns praying for him!

On 'Tonight's Song':
Yes I enjoyed the music but I was waiting for a song to start, as the title suggests!
It was very flowing and evocetive, but I was waiting for the singing to break in all the way till the end; at the end I felt a little disconsolate.

I was hearing perhaps... hmm, a sort of semi spoken narative, somewhere between Country and Cohen, and maybe about loss or regret... ask Bobby to write some Country words for it?

It only needs a simple line of words now and then to make a song come alive... and be a song!
Very nice all the same,
Mark D Phillips................

Thanx for the input Mark. I write music (?) better than lyrics. All my songs are meant for lyrics to be added later by the lead singer (old habits die hard) lol.. I'm gonna have to get a collaborative effort going or another band.. The band thing is kind of hard to do though living 20 miles from any civilization ..

Hello ZXYZ,
Just having a listen to 'Must be Reality', and the singing sounds fine on that one... you? Or some else maybe, but either way I say just sing the vocal track on a song however bad you think you sing, as it sets it out for when the right singer comes along.
Cheers,
Mark...................

Hi Mark,
Yes that's my old funky voice.. I think I have some lyrics for it (somewhere) .. Got a couple of other tunes I'm working on 1st, so maybe in a few weeks. Thanks for the input.
How's things 'across the pond'? :D

Hello ZXYZ,
If that was your voice it is a hell of a lot more convincing than mine, and gives you no excuses for calling something a song when it has no words!!!!!
On this side of the duck-pond we are mild and dry at around 12 or 13C.
My workshop studio (photos in my profile) is warm enough for me to try to learn the drums I have aquired, and I was just about okay on my bass guitar; but I think my finger tips would be just a bit too cold for something fiddly like the six string... my workshop is unheated and stores the winter chill for week or two into the spring.
But in the garden primroses and crocuses are up, and in the trees birds are starting to get randy!
Take it easy over there,
Mark.............

Hi Mark..
Your story brings me back to a band I was in in Minot North Dakota USA , We were rehearsing in a garage with the heater on full-blast and it was so cold I couldnt feel my fingers anymore--but we kept on practicing-- I was a younger man then... I don't think I could do that anymore..
Randy birds, huh.. feeling frollicky, are they? :D
Voice.. well, thanks. mine leaves a lot to be desired , and I have trouble writing lyrics. I still keep trying. Glad to hear that you're playing drums now. I wish I could. I've tried that, but it escapes me..
