For me Bob will always be known for that awfull slurred singing voice.
He was a pop icon, and suppuse he still is. Alot of his stuff was whinner music in my opinion. Yet I cannot denie his talents.

thank you for your opinion but whiner music and slurred singing voice were not the responses i was looking for. So, again, whats your fav. Bob Dylan song and or album?(if your not a Dylan fan i respect that but don't post your negative comments here).

Thanks, Taylor B.

what are you talking about?! I simply made a subject that you obviously didn't read and then decided to criticize! yea, i don't control the boards or what people say. I even asked kindly that no negative remarks were made. so thanks for taking it personally and responding with a stupid remark.

Thanks, Taylor

Hmmm. really? i guess not a lot of people are bob dylan fans here. too bad. Just curious, have you heard most of the rest? I mean, there's over 50 Dylan albums and those songs are grouped close together. I'm not trying to start S***, just wondering. I'm fully aware that a lot of people just don't care for Dylan at all, just trying to promote being open minded.

Thanks, Taylor B.

Based on the songs that I've covered live over the years, Like A Rolling Stone, Tombstone Blues, Ballad of a Thin Man, I'd have to say my choice for best album is the same as yours. I would say "John Wesley Harding" is a close second. As far as personal favorite song,, THATS a hard call, since Ive been a Dylan fan since the early 60's. I really like that old single "Won't you Please Come Craw Out Your Window" (Most folks dont remember it, and if they do , tend not to care for it)
One of my ol' High school buddies toured with Dylan as guitar player and band leader for a couple of years.

I'll admit that I am rather closed-minded when I consider Dylan as a performer, although as a poet & songwriter I consider him to be quite good. I have a hard time listening to HIM doing most things, & yeah, at age 53, I've prolly heard most of it at one time or another, with the exception of his newer stuff, which I've managed to miss somehow.

Pick any artist that's been popular, & 90% of the time, they could take one of his songs & outperform him on it. The Mamas & The Papas. The Band. The Dead. Manford Mann. Hendrix. Me (& I ain't even popular!). It ain't hard. As a performer, I find little to appreciate from him.

He was the "one take guy." He'd go in the studio, slop his way through a song one time & say "okay. That's good enough." Hard to respect that, as a person that tries to perfect his performance in a studio setting (or live, for that matter!).

Like A Rolling Stone
Positively 4th Street
Lay Lady Lay
Hurricane
Tangled Up In Blue
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Mr. Tambourine Man

Spokesman for a generation, but I have to admit I prefer other people's versions of his songs.

Cool cool. It seems like a lot of you enjoy Bob Dylan covers. I Would agree to that a lot of his songs are done better by others. you guys should check out Jeff Buckley. If you don't know of him hes the son of Tim Buckley, he died several years back but was an amazing performer of blues, folk, you name it. He had a few albums of his own as well. Anyways he did a lot of Dylan covers that were just jaw dropping.
