I am a little excited! I Yearn for greatness and lets face it as a 3 peice band greatness is just not going to happen
Our band has lost a very generalized member. but none the less important!

There is a band down here that is on the same level as us.

My delimma is if we were to combine forces I know that this would be the best band in this area.

This one person is hands down the best acoustic guitar player in this area. But he likes to name the band after himself and is a little intimidated by competition and also a great singer.
I have offered for us to combine forces and we are currently in negotiations of how we can make this happen

I want him to understand that I think that it would not necessarilly be a matter of him joining our band but more of a combining of forces.

I am a strong believer that it is in our best interest to understand that this is our band if people feel like they have owner ship in the project they will be more co-opertaive

Man .. Im not gettin a good feeling about this..Those 2 red flags.Im sure I dont need to mention..Ive worked with ALOT of single artistry on the road, and very few are team player material that IVE come across.YOU work for THEM. I realize this isnt a road band but, just really pay attn to this cat right up till the time ya make your decision. Those cats have a way of turning it into "Their" band with out ya seein it comin...This is just based on my exp.

sounds like a winning combination. of course your dealing with ego's so it will be touchy.
the hardest thing to pull off is a "group".
If you can get everyone to consider the needs "and asset's" of the group first, and their own agenda's second... well then you'll have something!
That's hard to pull off with the "Rockstar" mentality of today.

Good Luck and be as diplomatic as you can J...

I'm am goin into this very cautiously this person I am talkin about is very talented has more to gain than I and I can't help but be concerned that maybe he is almost as tired as I am about running the band.
Hey guy's I am A good leader when it comes to motivating everyone in the band, and I am very structured and so is this guy.
I don't like being the guy in charge even tho I am very good at it.
I do not mind handing over the reighns
and I admitt this guy is a better leader than me, and a better overall musician.
I on the other hand am more of a virtuoso in the area of musicianship and really excell in a partnership with some like this guy taking the lead!
however my virtuosity tends to intimidate really good musicians that I would really like to work with.
I tend to be a little more mature when it comes down to the overall big picture.
My emotions and desperation and most of all my yearning for true Greatness of which are going to take more than just my own virtuosity.

philby said it best today and I agree I am getting sick of listening to myself solo for 30 minutes  I don't allow it to go that far but just the same I know that there can be greatness here.my brothers and sisters please keep me grounded 8)

You are right on the money, TheKidd I am very aware of that, that would have to be his sacrifice just getting him to agree to the band not being the

So And So Treo

And understanding that hey it is our band, the other guys really like that and to tell you the truth I am tired of being the guy in charge of it all I would welcome all the help I could get. i guess we will see

Yeah man, I may have come off somewhat pissomistic.. ..I guess, I hear about JW , Crip, Hayden, Sans , Neanderpaul, etc.and what a brotherhood you guys have, and have had over the yrs.I havent gotten to exp. that much. Ive always kinda worked for the "man"..It just seemed like the "brotherhood" mentality is what your after and Ive seen the "man " mess that up quite a few times. Might have come off tooo cautious. Sounds like your not that hep on findin that "magical"3rd piece.Didnt wanna spoil your excitement.

 Remeber when we were young? WE didnt wanna hear that crap about "be careful" "ya might wanna look at it THIS way" Didnt want ANYONE takin a dump in our playhouse. We werent even aware that we were "convincing"ourselves, more or less talking ourselves into something/situations.Well, at least now we're older and can see around the bend alittle clearer. Good to have healthy doubt.Man, I wish the best for ya. Sounds like which ever way it goes , you'll be on top of it.

I have sworn off big heads. No more bands with one guy's name in them. No more bands with that ego boosting word "featuring." Flook 'em I say!

If they aren't a PART of the overall picture, I'll be damned if I'll be a part of their persona. Ya see, I got a pretty damned big head, too, so why the hell not name it all after ME?

Nope nope nope nope!

One name to cover everyone. You ain't no more important to this thing than I am. First time I think I'm more important than you, I become a liability. Same goes for you, mister big shot. That just the way I look at it.

I don't give a tinker's damn how much "more exposed" your name may be. I don't care if you DO think it would help us get more gigs in the places you've already been booking your name for 15 years. I don't care if you do have 10K signatures on your Myspace page.

If I'm to work in a band, it'll have one name for all, & be sure that it won't be YOURS, unless I'm just a temporary hired hand backing up a performer that I can believe in, for a few shows on the side of my more serious project. That is, unless you wanna play for the Phil Montgomery Project...(which is a pretty stupid name, imho...I'd hafta come up with something way more creative before even I joined that band!)

I no longer work with people I don't get along with well right off the bat. Music is hard enough already without people working at cross purposes. One big plus is the two of you can share band leader duties which can hopefully make your lives easier. You should only do it if you guys really click musically and personally though in my opinion. If something bothers you only a little bit now it'll probably bother you a whole lot more 6 months from now.
