Hey I'm new on here. I play piano and flute but I'm really into the tin whistle. I taught myself how to play but i've outgrown my beginner books and was wondering if anybody had any recommendations on more advanced books or music I could start learning. Anybody? This site is brilliant!

Hey Girl,

I jam in a BG /OT setting playing chromatic/melodic banjo to heavy melodic (notey) tunes like Blackberry Blossom,St Annes Reel, Red Haired Boy, and many Hornpipes, Reels, Jigs....Tin , AND Penny Whistles are common at these jams.Heres "Over the wate Fall" (one we play), a common OT tune played by Flatpickers and Fiddlers mostly. There are link to some tutitorials regarding the Tin Whistle.Hurry up and learn some tunes so we can colab... Most people I know that play are OLD and dont have recording software.yeah , thats a killer instrument.I pretty much play note for note what you guys play.Ill post a couple banjo tunes on my player in this style. Welcome to the board!!!

Tin whistle is used quite often in folk music (non-american) as a lead instrument, I've heard a lot of great tin whistle solos from finnish bands, what what not.

Yes I have played that CD through several times. There are songs on there that everyone in my family likes. :D
My son said you must be one talented #@$%%&*^#$@!
I will go and listen for that instrument in particular.

My wife brought home a phone number for a keys man she heard doing gospel where she works. I think I may invite him out for a little jam session with the band.
