General Music Chat

Alright,

So I'm a fan of korpiklaani, and a fan of easier folk music like les stroud.
Problem is, I don't like american folk, I lean more toward Scandinavian Folk, and I want to start an all acoustic scandinavian folk band.

Problem 2: I can't find someone WELL versed in the ways of classical guitar, and a violinist that hasn't been huffed up by the local country band.

Problem 3: We need multi-talented musicians, people who can play violin, tin whislte, accrodian, lute, etc. Thats like shooting blindfolded in a hurricane at a bottle cap at 3000 yards while spinning in circles. Can't do it.

Kinda just a rant... but I'm trying to branch out from my ALL metal roots.
And no knifes at my folk concerts fellas much thanks.

AV - I understand your problem. I dunno how to fix it, but it might help if you posted some examples of your vocals & bass work.

I've searched for multi-instrumentalists, myself, before. They're hard to find & even harder to agree with on music styles, etc. Yeah, it would be a wonderful thing to find perfect ppl, though, wouldn't it?

Also, in your profile there's a negative lil comment about how picky & hard to work with you are - I'd definitely leave that out cuz it sent up red flags all over the place for me as soon as I read it! Let ppl find out that sorta thing for themselves (& do try to lighten up a bit as you go - it might make it easier to work with others).

In any case, it's good to see you stretching out & trying other musical styles.

I dont much like Kentucky folk. Theyre always up to something.

I guess if you want to play Scandinavian music you need to move there. I'll have to look that up, thats a whole new genre for me.

Ive honestly tried to post a folk bass solo of mine, but it was recorded in wma, and that's all i can record in for now. When i found the "free" wma to mp3 converter.... well, lets just say I could have just played it on keys it was so techno-y....

But trust me im trying. As for my vocals, i have a wierd blend of whats known as yoiking, and a harsh metal growl. The only way i can discribe it is a rough mix of korpiklaani and children of bodom.

As far as what you are looking for, maybe a nearby university music department would yield some fruit. Id like to hear that project. Cool idea.

Im not a real fan of american folk, but your songs are very well done and even though out of my tatse, I really enjoy.

Your alternitve roots show a lot more than your folk roots do.
