You dog! The M1 Carbine, sweet! Who was the manufacturer?
We have an IBM in the store. The Rockola guns are quite a collectable.

Geeze, how do you tell?

I think it's a Springfield? I don't see any markings on the outside. It may have an aftermarket stock..

Couldn't tell ya for sure. It makes me a little nervous, as it didn't come by the usual channels. Note "not a complaint".

EDIT: Ok, I just asked him. He says it's a ROCK-OLA? I told him to lay off the booze-ola. lol He says check the serial #'s. Where??!!?!??!?!

Rock-ola. BWAHAHAHAHA as if.

All I know is I can tell it was in shitty condition very recently. lol (I am kind of afraid to shoot it) (It's all fun and games till someone loses an eye)

Editx2 Oof didn't see your last line.. WTF is a rock ola?
Someone said it was a juke box. (covering eyes and wincing) It's plain I am out of my element here..

The Marking locations vary by manufactures. There should be an identifier just below the front sight assembly. Sometimes the stampings can be hard to read. At the back and top of the reciever should be a serial number.
Many M1 - C have mixed parts from various armory reassemblys.
This is common with war surplus weapons and vehicles.
Rock ola indeed manufactured juke boxes. As well as a damn fine rifle.
The M1 Carbine served in WW II and Korea. Along with other great rifles of the era. Like the M1 Garand, Mauser K98, Mosin Nagant, SMLE.

I'll tell you what. I just shot it a little.

You can tell it was in bad shape. I am going to completely field strip it, as it seems to be a little sticky to be used for quality govt. work. (lol)

It shoots VERY straight, but it's too loud. (iron sights) I bet the neighbors think it's WW2 now. Talk about sonic cracks, my ears are ringing still.

I hate to say it, but it has too much that distinctive sound to be used 'round these parts. If I was someone that "it was my job to know these things" and I heard it go off, I'd know it wasn't any shotgun.

Even so, I have to say I prefer a full sized rifle. Give me a Colt M4 Commando over this thing any day or something with a 50mm relief scope.

I'd have felt naked with this pea shooter that tells everyone exactly where you are.

I have a .303 British, but it needs the head something or other done.
Don't know how prevalent those are these days...
And an SKS that looks like it came out of a chinese cave.
And I'm going to swipe my dads MAC-90.

What I really need is a handgun that I can carry at all times, that will knock a crazed person down, but still can fit under a coat without notice. That will always fire no matter what, and shoot straight enough to where I just have to point and shoot without worrying about aiming for up to 15yds or so.

Head space I believe is the proper terminology for what you .303 needs.
My carry alternates between a 1911 style .45 auto and my favorite S&W .357 mag revolver. You cannot beat a revolver for reliability.
Capt,n
I hear you bro, a bud of mine had a revolver chambered in .30 carbine.
The muzzle flash would blind you and curl you mustache.

I didn't even notice the flash.. The sonic crack tho.. wow. loud as hell

You like .357, Sans? When I shoot them, it feels like my trigger finger is dislocated.

.38/9mm is bulls eye for me 9 out of 10x though. I doubt I could hit squanto at effective pistol range with the 357. I would have to be within 50ft to have a chance to hit whoever I was firing at.
