I wonder how PA is going to handle it, I think they tax based on the $$ instead of by the gallon. I was thinking they've gotta be hurting right now.

Of course, it's the consumers who will pay for it. Will probably have to pay more corporate welfare to exxon as well for their decreased profits.

Why doesnt exxon/mobil and the other gas gougers give some $$ to GM and Ford instead of the govt bail out thing??? I mean, they're both in the fuel/ automobile industries, right? Cars run on gas. One can't survive without the other. Then the govt can have all the money they need for road repairs..

In the UK, we get charged over $2 a gallon for petrol, more for diesel, we also have to pay $320 a year to own a vehicle (average for a small car) and if I want to drive around London, my home town, I get charged $12 a day.
It's called a congestion charge.

well gas is down to $1.41 a gallon here. but that wont stop em from robbin us some more!
anyone notice that all of our cash has been drained from us? where did all of the money go?
lets see; 7 trillion extra when the bushwackers took over....2 trillion in debt and about to go another 2 trillion......hmm, that's around 11 trillion dollars
now divide that into 300 million
that's how much each of us has been robbed of!

I'm just going to pretend to be a congressman. And go to the congress place and sit there. And stand up and start arguing over everything that comes up. See how long I can go before they notice something is amiss.

Now... have to figer out how to dress and how to get in there.

You stole my idea exactly. The damn oil companies made obscene profits the last few years, billions of dollars more than what the U.S. automakers were begging for. The oil companies have a vested interest in seeing the U.S. automakers return to profitability. The consumer shouldn't foot the bill AT ALL which is what we're doing. A "bailout" is you and me giving our future hard earned tax dollars away to incompetent management. The CEO's and union members should be REQUIRED to renegotiate their contracts to attain parity with the foreign automakers' employee pay and benefits BEFORE the companies receive ANY federal tax bailout money. You think the Chinese and other foreign nations have us by the testicles now? Wait about five years when all these foreign loans start coming due. Your testicles will start to shrivel big time. Later...

it's just another case of take it from us, give it to them!
they gave the bankers 100 billion bucks; one bank went straight out and bought a bank in China for 6 billion...
now how did that help us?

you still cant get a loan
people are still getting booted from the homes they were scammed into buying
nobody is going to jail for robbing us

it looks like they're just sucking every dollar from the economy....
where did it go?
what are they using it for?

why didn't they give that money to the citizens which would have instantly resulted in:
wiping out most personal debt
created jobs to produce the goods we "would have" bought
created savings

aren't these the things they've been telling us strengthen our economy for decades?

I'd write to my congressman if I thought he could read.

This is so wrong! We DID our part, didn't we? We cut back on foreign oil use. We've been good.

When will our gov't do its funking job!?!? The thing to do is to "redistribute the wealth," to use Obama's words, at this point. Redirect the monies that are going for useless crap like the ongoing study of the ecological effects of cow farts, and put it to use on our infrastructure! Why would they need to take more money from us?

This was one of my worries about Obama, and I'm sorry to see it coming true.

They're bailing out everyone at our expense, ppl. It's time to start the revolution.

I could sure use some bailing out!

I'm not one to bad mouth "Big Oil". The percentage they make on the dollar is a lot less than the average retailer will charge you. The so called obscene profit is due to obscene volume of sales. Yet the cash they waste on bullshit would fund GM no sweat. I used to work for Mobil. The waste is incredible.
I say let the Auto industry fail. It is a poorly run private industry. It has failed and should fail. The fault lays with the industry, both management and the employees.

isn't that the way a "free" market economy is supposed to work?
other companies will come in and take up where others have failed. a free market economy is supposed to be self adjusting. when government tries to step in and manipulate the market.....well remember the great depression?
