I talked to him, & went out to meet him. Then, of course, on the way, I blew a @#$@%!$@#@ radiator hose, & overheated. PISSED, I be!

I left here before 3, & just got home & it's after 7. I'm feeling a bit grumpy about it all.

Hey guys, first time I've been able to get on here, laptop doesn't last long on battery and I can't get internet anywhere I can plug in...yet...

I'm in Baltimore, got here Fri night around 8 or so, after a round trip through another dinky little town where I couldn't seem to find a way back onto I 70 and had to backtrack 10 miles or so and turn around. Yeesh...

Anyway, trying to learn my way around, he had setup an acoustic gig for Friday night soon as I got here, it didn't go all that well, I was really tired, voice in rough shape, wrong crowd for acoustic soooo...

That's about it for now, thanks again guys and I'm glad I did get to see the pelople I did, wish I could have met a couple more.

Gotta go before the battery does...

Hey Billy - there used to be a place on Charles St called The Peabody Book Store. It was a strange lil two-story bar I used to go to a long time ago. If it's still there, check it out. They used to do acoustic acts upstairs, & an old comedian/magician downstairs. I'm so sure the magician is dead by now, but ol' "Dantini the Great" was a lot of fun when I used to go there. They had pics on the walls of the famous actors & such that were there in the '50's & '60's, like Jack Palance. Lemme know if it's still there, cuz next time I'm in the area, I'd love to go back to catch a few memories.

Phil, I'll check and see. Friend here says he can check with his nephew.

JW, thanks, so far it looks like it might be ok but if he can't find another place for me to stay soon he might scrape up some money and send me back, things just aren't good around here in the financial department, but that's no different from anywhere else. Hate to see that happen, but it's not a good time to be trying something like this in the first place. Have to give the guy credit for trying anyway though, and if it has a chance of working, I'm in.

Got up today and had to pack up and move out of the little apartment I was in, the ill fated acoustic gig was supposed to keep me there for a while, along with a couple of other nights playing then a couple more for some cash. It wasn't fun, 16° F with 20mph wind, -1° wind chill last time I looked. Not fun for a Louisiana boy...and we sat up till 1AM last night practicing, so I woke up late and had to hurry without my usual 2 cups.

Guess that's it for the latest progress report, I'll try to keep you guys posted and when this thread gets a little longer I might start another one up.

I hope I get accustomed to this keyboard soon I've spent more time backspacing out typos than I have actually typing. (just got "new" laptop working, new to me anyway, and the keyboard is different from both my desktop at home and the old laptop I just retired.) Something keeps kicking it back up to the previous paragraph and suddenly I'm screwed...

Hey cool, no squiggly red lines, I can post now...YAAAYYY

Bill the night you were at my house it was around 40 degrees, the next day or so we modulated back up in the 60 degree range. This morning my outside thermometer said 7 degrees.

Hey if things dont work and you have to head back south, youve got a place to stay or lay over a day if need be. You got my phone number so just keep it in case you need it. My band was off this past weekend and I went out sat night to see a couple of groups I know. It was slim picking everywhere this past sat night. Our last shows were ill attended but I can see its the same for everyone. We have a show sat in Jackson Tn that pays enough for us to be there and then we have a high dollar New Years show, but looking forward into 09 I may have to start taking those guarentee prices instead of taking a chance on the door. We have some gigs lined up in places that have a good in house crowd so hopefully we can build from them.

Yea Id think started a new outfit would be tough right now, and being from LA Im sure you wish it had started in the summer time. Well try to have a Merry Christmas Bill, I'll be thinking about you thru the holiday!

Turns out I'm headed back south. Nothing was ready to go, I spent every penny I had with me on meals, (supposed to be already taken care of) Ended up on the floor at a friend's house (who I didn't know, and also supposed to be taken care of), none of the musicians were there yet, nothing really ready. So...I won't drop names here, no reason to smear anybody in a public manner. I did tell him though that it would be a good idea to make sure and have everything ready to go next time he wanted to call people in from out of state.

I hit the road last night around 4PM, drove till 1AM through to the middle of West Virginia, where I'm staying over with a friend I've known through a computer tech support forum for around 8 years. Should be on the road again sometime this morning, whenever I pour enough coffee down me to actually wake up. Tried to hook up with philby, and of course the fickle finger of fate just had to drop a meeting in his lap for last night, or was it a party...anyway I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Sorry phil, we tried.

Looks like I'll be searching around for bands again...anybody need a guitar player??? Hey I'm already packed...

Well, I made it back home, sitting at a friend's house now using their wireless to check mail etc.

It was an interesting and educational trip, but the bottom line is the guy just wasn't ready to call i n people from out of state. No accommodations or food lined up, none of the other people there and ready to go, pretty much nothing ready for people who have to make a serious road trip.

Many thanks to JW123 for hospitality and assistance well above and beyond the call of duty. He's a saint. Without his help I'd still be stopping every 20 miles or so and pouring water into the radiator. Lower hose decided to sprout a small hole, with his help we got it fixed and back on the road.

JW: made it without further ado, it turned over twice and cranked right up this morning. No idea why it flooded, I guess just to add insult to injury.

I was very glad to be able to meet JW and Kidd, both are great guys, I really enjoyed meeting them.

Well, I'm off to search around and see what else is happening, this didn't stop me, only set me back a bit, I'm still looking for a band...

Glad you made it back relatively okay except for the expenses. Damned shame we couldn't hook up, but the universe seems to constantly flook with my plans lately. Hope your next project goes better.

Bill, Im glad you made it home allright. It was a pleasure meeting you and please stay in touch. Ive been sidetracked in a lot of directions lately and I dont spend as much time on here as I once did. So sometimes it may be a few days between visits, plus I may not pay to keep my membership.

Sat night we had an interesting gig. The area was under a Tornado Watch for most of the evening, and it rained like we were in a hurricane most of the night. Kinda killed the audience for the evening. Our area the band economics are tough. We are trying to just take gigs with good pay guarentees, instead of taking the door. Also 2 clubs we played in the last 6 monthes are supposedly closing down.
