We are playing tomorrow down on the Kemah Plaza 7 to 11 pm C.S.T.
Ironically we were one of the last bands to play there before Hurricane Ike hit 9/12/08 and we are the first and only entertainers to play after the storm until next season which begins around March of 09 tomorrow is the Boat Parade.
I would ask YOU MY FELLOW MUSICIAN BRO. & SIS. to please keep in mind that down here on the Gulf Coast we were hit terribly by a storm on 9/12/08 and we are still finding bodies to this day and while we Texans are a very proud people WE f**k NEED HELP!
We are the ones that took in the storm victims from Katrina and are still supporting them to this day. My Tax Dollars while I am not soliciting sympathy I am just asking that you don't FORGET US!
All I know is when the dust settled after the storm our suffering has been overshadowed by the Presidential Election, Economic downturn,
I DON'T KNOW ANY OTHER WAY TO SAY IT I AM FRUSTRATED!

The people of the State of Texas wont forget you guys. The fact that Texas / Texans for the most part will "Do there own work" and not expect to be "saved" by Bush or Obama is one reason it will take some time.
Many of us are giving to charitable organizations who are helping down yonder. Be of stout heart my friend.
I must comment however, many of those bodies I am sure were the same one's who were told to get the f**k out. And did not heed.
Being a stubborn Texan has its risks.
I will remember to Remember you and my fellow Texans the next time I speak with our Father.

What can we do to help. Where can we send money or supplies. I thought of Texas as the "hero state" when Katrina hit. I will never forget how the governor wanted the people of Katrina to know that Texas loved them. That was so touching, in my opinion. My brother went to help the victims of Katrina...believe me, I want to do my best to help disaster struck victims when and where I can ...just let me know what to do.

Those bodies that they are finding a lot of them will never be identified as in the"GALVESTON STORM OF 1900" the worst natural disaster to ever hit the Continental U.S. (Mainland) they estimate 10,000 people lost their lives and that was in 1900. the Galv. storm of 1900 was a low cat.5 I have survived 3 hurricanes in my life, Carla 1961 a strong cat 4, Alicia a strong cat 3 1983, Ike a week cat.2 and I must tell you, know one expected much more than a strong wind, if you know anything about hurricanes the most difficult thing to predict is intensity, and I am saying our media and our government are as much to blame as the poor souls that died in the most horrific way, you would have to understand that we have had several dry runs I.E. hurricane Rita an experiment of how do you evacuate 6 million people well let me tell you I was caught up in that HAVE YOU EVER EXPERIENCED A 200 MILE TRAFFIC JAM try being caught up in that in 100% heat, you can't run your air con. because you are running from a cat. 5 hurricane experiment of how to evacuate 6 million people a physical impossibility, and how long will your gas (fuel) last, now you are running out of fuel and your family of 5 is caught up in an anarchist Situation everyone left believing they would experience some inconveniences of coarse but where do you go to the bathroom in a 200 mile traffic jam where do you get food or water. I was f**k there bro.and I have to tell you I will take my chances with a cat 2 storm and so did those poor souls who died you have no choice bro.
Again people at 50 years of age I say THE ESTABLISHMENT SUUUCKS!
The Governor of Texas Rick Perry (God Bless Texas) doesn't give a rats ass about the masses or what really effects the people of Texas and the world for that matter all he Care's about is getting re-elected

That is very sweet black 57, it has kinda been everyone is just trying to survive and I must say I and my family are one of the lucky ones, our home sustained $15,000.00 worth of damage but the ins. has paid for most of it

there are people down here in the City of San Leon This is where Dusty Hill from ZZ top Had a house his home was heavily damaged but I think he will be fine, this is a fishing village these people not only lost there lives and homes but they lost their livelihood as well, they are in an unincorporated area they frankly have just been forgotten but most of all I think the bay area Red Cross needs the most help.
The City of San Leon Tx. is a very unique place because you can have trailer park next to half million dollar townhouse next to Dusty Hills 10 million dollar complex.
most of the people living here make under 30,000 annually and have no ins.

I know your frustrated J. I have sat through several of the storms you mentioned as well, as we lived in Portland. (not the Gregory side)
I could see the Bay of Corpus from my parents rooms window. We walked and played in the storm eyes as kids. I am no stranger to the Coastal Texas hurricane mentality. I still have family down yonder too. They were caught up in the Rita clusterfuck as well. My sister n Bro in law stayed for Ike. Due in part to the Rita CF. My wife and I left our children at home alone to care for the evacuees to the hospitals and nursing homes, despit the fact we choose not to live on the coast for just that reason. With Ike my BIL called and said they would choose to stay despite being warned to leave the coast 72hrs before hand.
I watched a bunch of jackasses sitting in a beach front bar drinking and laughing about Ike on the news report while my children were home alone and I worked at the hospital. Lots of things need to change on the coast of Texas. Attitudes about the dangers of hurricanes is not least on the list.
